Menu changes... Too often

Anyone else frustrated by overly frequent menu changes?
It seems like every time I develop a favorite, it's off the menu within six months.
It's getting to the point where it's tough to plan what restaurants we want to dine at.
My recent favorite that fell victim is the Bourbon Steak at The Yachtsman Steakhouse. :(

I don't go enough for menu changes to bother me, but something that really annoyed me, was that at Columbia Harbor House they got rid of the bread bowls that they used to serve the clam chowder in.

We went to the Sci-Fi for lunch today, and the Big Bang ice cream sundae is gone :( ....we've been eating that for years!

I am just the opposite I prefer more menu changes. I like fine dining establishments to vary their menus every other week or even each week as I love to see what creations the chef can do. I know that we love certain restaurants, but have chosen to skip them after a few trips as the menus never seem to change. I would love to see Jiko do a total redo on their menu as I already covered all of the things I like on this one. Bistro did a nice update and I cannot wait to go this trip.

Just an opinion from the other side of the fence.

That said: Now, if I could only find the BBQ Shrimp that Coral Reef had on their menu in 1996 I'd go crazy.

ITA!

Here's my opinion. I understand they might want to change some things around a bit, but don't mess with the more popular items on the menu. Some of these dishes are SO popular, they have given out the recipe to major magazines and such.

My Family Fun magazine had Brown Derby's Grapefruit cake, Kona Cafe's Stuffed French Toast, etc.. And I've seen Le Cellier's cheese soup and others ..........don't mess with these. They are so popular they are written about.

But there are other things on the menu that might not get as much attention but are still a "favorite" by many. At least they seem to be favorites on this board when they are talked about in a dining review or something.

Maybe that's the problem. I think WDW needs to listen to this board more and what we say! :rotfl: Oh, I DO live in Fantasyland, don't I? :teeth:

I wouldn't mind if the favorites were kept but one or two others were changed around. True that everybody has their own favorites, but there are some that I hear about again and again.

Just FYI, Disney owns Family Fun magazine, so its often used a vehicle to promote WDW and DL.

Oh rats! Our next trip is the "things we haven't done yet" trip, and that was on the list. Tell me the Dole whips are still around!

I was so disappointed with this change, too. Thier chowder is OK, but with the bread bowls it made it seem much better.

I had read so much about the Bourbon steak at Yachtsman I was going to try it....it's not there any more?

Bummer....

So...yep it bothers me....glad we are going in January so we can eat dinner at CRT without having a set menu!

True, but they would never print them if they weren't so popular.

Deb will's site has almost 200 popular recipes from the World. I need to cook from that list every once in a while. That would give me a little Disney fix. :teeth: Nothing is like being there though. :)

Frequent menu changes is the sign of a great restaurant. The best restaurants respond to changes in the quality of what's available, and beyond that, the best chefs are thinking people, who provide great dining experiences through their creativity, instead of just cookie-cutter sustenance.

OF course, guests who seldom dine at WDW won't be aware of any "change", since they won't know what was available before.
BUt frequent WDW diners are certainly aware--and the Bourbon Steak was one of my favorites too!!
Hard to say how I feel--guess I'm in the camp that agrees some changes from time to time are good--as long as they DON"T change what I like!!

Oh, no, this is me as well. Since we eat at the restaurants so often, I like to see them change as often as possible. I was very happy that the F+W Fest booths changed so much this year, as well.

I tend to have to agree with the idea on Jiko, we've been so many times that it'd be nice to see a total re-do. I think I about fell on the floor when I found out that the Taste of Africa had finally changed :)

Keep in mind that Annette will be glad to make anything you want, if she's got the ingredients available. In the better restaurants, the menu is a guide for patrons, not a limitation.

I agree, if they ever got rid of the cheddar cheese soup at Le Cellier, I'd be devastated. I know there's a few things that should never change, but I don't mind the menu changes. Places like California Grill, and Victoria and Albert's change there menus all the time, don't they.

They print new menus every day, I believe.
