I'm not sure if this is in the right place...so admins, feel free to move.

In the past I used to wear khaki shorts to the parks, but I eventually realized that I sweated way too much in them. Last trip, I switched out to running/yoga shorts that have a liner in them. Worked great, even though there were generally no pockets. Well, we're going again and I'm in need of new shorts. I wouldn't mind a pair or two that don't look like I'm about to hit a jogging trail (like standard black ones), so I'm curious if anyone has purchased more "active" shorts that weren't your standard jogging shorts, and if so, where did you get them?

My hubby enjoys wearing boardshorts - basically, swim trunks. He usually buys them from PacSun and they match his tank tops pretty well without looking too dorky. He says the mesh lining wicks away sweat better and I think all of the pairs he owns have pockets.

Blue , green and other color's of ladies shorts. But whatever you wear justt make sure you are comfortable.

I love my khaki shorts. I wear those and some moisture wicking boxers and I'm good.

Sometimes I will wear gym shorts though. If I keep all my stuff in my backpack

I gotta wear khakis. I can't wear gym shorts. Pockets are to flimsy and would be worried about stuff falling out all day. Plus khakis or nice shirts look better in pics

How is black cooler then khaki? Just curious!

It isn't! lol. I splurged at one point and have a nice pair of shorts from lululemon (or however you spell it) but I can't justify spending that amount on another pair. I was just wondering what others might've purchased that weren't the standard black running shorts you see all over the place. I've found some nice khaki-like running shorts that are more like active wear, but I was curious if others had suggestions.

Thanks everyone for responding. I'm going to look into these options.:wizard:

You may want to look into biking shorts too. I have a pair that look like cargo shorts, and have built in compression shorts with "padding" in areas.

I guess, I'm not a good one to respond because I wouldn't know running shorts from ice cube trays. I just buy whatever shorts are on sale, usually cargo, but not always. I don't have a problem with being too hot or too cold, so don't pay any attention to what I have to say about it. I only responded because you said that the khaki ones were to hot and I couldn't see how black anything would be cooler. Maybe it's just me.

Look for shorts in the golf section of any big box sporting goods store - each brand will make a few varieties that are much lighter (& with moisture controlling features) than your average khaki shorts. Hiking shorts are also an option- check out EMS or REI type places. Plenty of options for style and color in both the golf and hiking categories- no need to look like you are out for run!
