Grrr...is it just my dh or do all men put holes through their dress pants pockets? He has to wear dress pants to work, but due to sitting on his rear all day at a desk, after just a couple of months his wallet wears a hole through his back pocket. His wallet certainly isn't too full, so that isn't the problem! :lmao:

Does anyone know of anything to prevent that? Is this normal or due to poor quality of his pants? I get them for $10-14 at the Wrangler outlet, so at least they aren't that expensive to replace, but still drives me nuts!

It does happen! :lmao:
I would suggest a patch on the inside of the pocket, that would reinforce the material where it seems to "wear out"...

Hmmm. This doesn't happen with DH's pants. But his cost a little more than $10-$14. I usually get Dockers but he has a couple Tommy Hilfiger (that I bought off eBay).

Although, I think DH might keep his wallet in his front pocket???? I will have to pay attention next time DH gets his wallet out to pay for something.

LOL.....if I did not know better, that sounds like my wife who wrote that post. She just got done commenting on this subject this morning. My pants have the same issue.

The same thing happens to my husbands pants. We have been trying to figure out a way to fix this. It seems like this has just started to happen within the past 2 years. I usually patch them but after the hole starts to begin. Maybe I should try to patch them first and see what happens.

I wear Levi Actionslacks. I wear dress pants every day at work. These pants are so comfortable. I used to wear dockers but they would not last as long. As for the wallet send me some of the money that is in it and The the wallet will not be so fat. I will PM my paypal acct to you.

His wallet *is* too thick if it's doing that; probably too large, too. He should be using a trifold. DH has never had a problem with it, though he mostly carries his wallet in his inside jacket pocket, except on casual days (casual days require "dress slacks" as opposed to the full wool suit.)

DH uses a trifold wallet and it isn't too thick and it causes a white dot on the pocket. We don't usually get the holes. He has good quality pants to. This might be why we don't get the actual hole but that darn white mark from the bottom corner of the wallet really bugs me!

No problems with dress pants, but jeans are a different story. First the white mark, eventually the hole.
DH uses a tri-fold too, but he has too much stuff in it: not money, but has a store discount card, dr. license, military ID, receipts, debit card, corporate credit card and who knows what else...
A friend teased him once about having George's wallet on Seinfeld:rotfl2:
My advice is thin out the wallet, if possible. If the fabric isn't durable, you may want to look into a different brand (if you have to discard them often, a more expensive brand may pay off and you can always check ebay). Take the wallet out and put away when sitting for long times if possible. Now, if only DH would take this advice.

I've been wearing dress pants to work for 20 years and have never once gotten a hole in my pocket from my wallet. Must be the pants (or the wallet).

My problem is that the front pockets wear quickly, I feel keys hitting my leg, or I put change into my pocket and it falls straight to the floor.

My father has a big square on the back pocket of his pants from his wallet. I agree, the wallet must be too thick.

As for "white spots", you *could* try using Fray Check on the reverse side of the fabric to prevent that wear on the weft threads, but test it on an inconspicuous spot first, and launder the test spot before using it on an area that shows. It usually dries clear, but sometimes it does leave a shadow; it depends on the fabric.

Problems like these are going to show up most clearly on fabrics like denim that have two different color threads in the weave. Several fabrics other than denim use this weaving technique. You should examine the fabric closely to make sure that the threads in both directions are exactly the same color and thickness; variance will create wear-spots much more easily.

My DH carries his wallet in his front pocket, and hasn't had any problems with holes.

My husbands employer pays for his workclothes and they are not cheap clothes. Just recently (past 6 months or so) he's started having the same problem. He's had the same wallet for years and been employed by the same employer for years and they've been buying from the same company for years. I'm going to try to use the iron on patch on all of his pants pockets but I'm so afraid that the "patch" will have an outline on the visible side. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I could have written that original post myself...:scared1: ....I bring this up all the time. I even made him go buya NEW wallet........same thing happens. And believe me, the wallet is almost empty.

We have Dockers, as well as other brands.......so I'm anxious to see what you all say....

Thanks, everyone! I got him a new wallet at Christmas, thinking that would help, but nope. And he only has his driver's license and a few other cards in it, it isn't full at all. We'd tried other brands and had the same problem, which was why I was happy I found the outlet where I could get them for under $14! I did tell him to take it out at work, but his desk doesn't lock, so he won't do that, which I agree with. I am wondering if maybe it has to do with his chair? :confused3 Oh, well, at least I know he isn't the only one!

I am curious to see if anyone tried the iron on patch inside to see if that helps any!

I'm sorry but I cannot figure out how you are going to iron on a patch on the INSIDE of a pocket. Please put me out of my misery because its bugging me??
