Memory on the GBA or the Leapster Consoles

The DIS is the only place I could think to ask this question. My search engine brought me nothing! Do the Leapster and GBA have some sort of memory built in so that when you insert a cartridge, it has your information like your name or your character's name? Or is is somehow left on the cartridge? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, which I fear it may be...) Anyway, I'm asking because, I am selling some used leapster games. When I place them in my daughters console, the names she/we input come up. If the new owner places it in his or her console, will it start over again, or will my daughter's and her friend's names still pop up on the screen? Thanks to anyone who knows the answer to this! :confused3

IIRC with the GBA the game asks for a password or key code to continue a game that was saved. If you don't enter a code a new game starts. I would think that inserting the cartridge in any GBA would yield the same. If DD can find both her GBC and GBA I'll ask her, or if she knows anything more about it.

I think the Leapster has the memory in the carterage. DS has one and it remembers up to 4 different players. Although he likes typing his name so he tends to overwrite it each time he plays on it.

Yes, I've noticed this with the GBA. (With codes and all) The Mario Tennis Tour, however saves information for up to three people. I always wondered how.

My DD likes to do that also, and a couple won't let her delete a players name anymore. That might be a little irritating to the new owner if he or she can't input his or her own name. That's why I'm asking. I'm afraid it's the cartridge also.

We have taken a couple back and had them exchanged without any problems because the cartridge wasn't working right. I think the manual says to take it back to the store for exchange if it fails. We just tell them it isn't working right anymore and would like to get another one of the same game.
