While I think it's pretty expensive, personally I won't take another trip without it as long as my daughter is little. We didn't buy it on our trips before her, and I don't have regrets about it, but it just made all the character meet and greets (and that was definitely her thing on this past trip) so much easier! Plus i love all the borders and stuff you can do. I still carried my Canon Rebel around with me, but not HAVING to rely on my own pics, I got truly enjoy those moments when she hugged Mickey, etc more rather than being behind the camera hoping for a good shot. Or sometimes I didn't bother with my camera since I knew Disney had it all under control, and I would snap one with my phone and send it to grandma
I say that, and I never really even did much with my pics after the fact, but knowing I have them is what matters to me!
We get it every time now but didn't our first few trips. Now I wish I had. I don't have very many good photos from those trips and my memories of them are fading. It would be nice to have a visual reminder of this day or that day - triggers for memories. I think it's worth it for that reason and also because I actually get to be in the photos now. The photos are generally good quality and easily better than most photos taken by random strangers you would ask to take a photo with your camera. Also, we use our photos for lots of things. Last year we put them on the back of our Christmas cards. I made up note cards for my husband with a funny picture he took with Goofy. I make up thank you cards with them and we make photo collages for the grandparents for Christmas.
I'd get it..................given its your first trip you can concentrate on the experience not the "getting of that perfect shot". Not to say you can't take pics yourself but MM just adds so much, pics, videos..........IMHO you can't beat it!
