Memory Maker

Thank you! Still debating... it's so much money for what - for us - amounts to ride photos and videos. We always have good luck with giving photopass photographers our camera/phone for photos with characters/attractions, etc.

Absolutely! My husband was like the PR for the memory maker. We don't go to Disney without getting it. Who wants to carry around a clunky expensive camera! Sometimes the camera people aren't too savvy, but we had 99% of our pics turn out great. N the special effects you can't get on your own. And you can add extras to your pics for no charge! We also went to the water parks and we have pics of the boys coming down the big water slides that we would not of gotten. Plus they walk around the water park n take pics. Are you going to get into the lazy river with your $800 camera! ! It's worth getting. N now that they add video from rides. ...can't imagine not getting the MM!!!!

Just so People are clear... Photo Pass photographers will take your photo in the park regardless... Walk up to one scan your band/card- whatever you have to use and they take your photo. Later on, after your trip most likely, you can log into your MDE account via a computer and see all photos including ride photos that were taken at the park. I am not sure how the video portion works, so I won't speak on that. Memory maker is the ability to download all of these photos instead of buying them individually. If you decide not to purchase the memory maker option, you can still see the photos In your MDE on a computer and purchase them individually - approximately $15 per photo the last I heard.

Memory maker is $169 in advance $199 outright and gives the owner the ability, like I stated previously, to download every photo taken of that group. You can also add borders, words etc to the photos and download them decorated as well. I hope this helps to clear things up a lil seems like a lot of confusion going on around Memory Maker.

Well I've had 2 trips in the last 6 months since Memory Maker was put into place and all I can say is I really like it. Our 1st trip with it was back in July and I bought it at the pre-purchase price and when we got to the park I made the family stop at almost every Photopass Photographer we passed. Which was cool because some were shots we'd never stopped for. Now in July we didn't have as many of the Movies that they have included now, but as someone said the onride photos are included. So even if you bought 2 or 3 of those you've already spent almost half of the MM cost. But the one thing I like is being able to then go back in and edit the pictures and put their WDW specific boarders or stickers on them. I'm sure a real artsy person could find those types of files to apply to their own pictures but that's not me so the ease of doing it online was great. On our July trip, we were there for 8 days, I was able to get ~300 pictures and then at least double that after editing the pictures with the different boarders and such. So I felt we got our money out of it.

Now this last trip we took in December/January for New Years I did not prepurchase MM as I thought we wouldn't really take that many pictures as it was a short trip, but as the emails started to come in that my pictures were expiring the bug hit me and I started editing the 183 pictures we had in our profile and again doubled it. But the thing that hooked me this time was the movies. We had 2 of us riding the Mine Train that was pretty cool, and also one of Sven from Frozen. So I spent the 200 this time to get a copy of pretty much a lot of the same pictures I had on my phone but now I had copies with all the boarders and stickers so we can print up a nice album if we wanted and the date is right there already.

So basically YMMV, but if you like to take a lot of pictures with the Photopass people then I'd say do the prepurchase price and buy it now. You'll get all the onride photos and maybe even some of the Magical Moments pictures. One note on the magical moments pictures, if you want those hit up the photographers during the day. My cousin had a picture with Honey Lemon from Hollywood Studios that she showed me, and when we finally made it to HS during our trip and got our picture take on our way out we were told they only do those types of shots during the day. So just a tip. We had a great experience with it, and Im not a huge photographer and maybe some of the shots they take maybe be a bit messed up in some shape, I still have 200 other ones that I could probably use. :) I do agree with siskaren though on balcerfamily's shots, #2 I didn't think anything was wrong with it. I would've attributed that to a night shot with some cool light flares... lol

I have used the MM for two of our family trips and have loved it! @balcerfamily Those picture are bad but my photos turned out very good(not necessarily professional quality but as good as I could do). Most of the photographers will take several pictures of you/family normally or you can just ask them to do close up etc. I love that you can personalize them with autographs, dates, borders etc. I have never been able to download my own photos to the site. I never purchase the ride pictures so this is an added bonus I love. I also take my own camera for other shots. If you have several families going together you can split the cost and get multiple CD's for a small fee. Well worth the price.

I'm sure this is answered somewhere (is there an obvious sticky topic I missed?) but how do they know which car you're in for which ride? Do you scan your magic band right before you get on the ride if you want ride pics/video?

Edited to add: Oh oh! I got it! So after you get off the ride or whatever, and view the ride photo/video at the ride kiosk, is when you have the CM scan your band to attach that photo/video to your account?

No, your band is scanned automatically when your ride vehicle passes the spot where the photo is taken; you don't need to stop at the photo kiosk.

ok so ive bought memory maker in advance, i bought on mde, do i need to do anything? do i need to log into photopass site and link it or anything?? bit confused lol :)

We have had both positive and negative experiences with photo pass/mm. We had a lot of great photos on one trip. We also had a trip where very few photographers were around the parks, we did not do a lot of character greets and only one character meal. We had very few usable pictures at the end of that trip. A lot of the ones they did take were not in focus or poorly taken. We will not pay for it again. Cell phone camera's are so good now that you don't need to carry a bulky camera with you and the MM photographers will happily snap a pic for you. It is also because my children are teenagers now as well and the character stuff is few and far between.

If you have younger children and plan to do meets, character meals and want everyone in the picture(s) it is a good idea and worth the $$. You get the ride pics, character pics and all the magic shots.

My son is going with his eighth grade class for 5 days to Disney. theres 32 students plus chaperones. I'm guessing a total of 50 people. My husband and I are going at the same time but we chose not to stay with them. We made our own arrangements so we're not on the same MDE account. Would it be possible for me to get one for their class even though our trips aren't linked? If I buy the memory maker on my MDE, can I just share it with them? How?

Can someone clarify how MM works if there are multiple families traveling together that wish to split it- I understand that one person manages the account and that their magic band is the only one that can get ride photos, but what if the family splits up to go meet a princess or something, can those other non ride photos be added to the mm package?

1. - I understand that one person manages the account and that their magic band is the only one that can get ride photos,

2. but what if the family splits up to go meet a princess or something, can those other non ride photos be added to the mm package?

1. Not true. As long as they're on your Friends and Family list, their ride pictures will show up too.

2. Same as #1.

We just finished our trip to WDW and we bought the MM. It was nice not having to lug a big camera around...but we did have out iPhones and a little point&shoot handy at all times. We used the little camera for character meals and on some rides and some of the character meets with no photographers.... It was nice to get to see all the pictures as soon as we got to our hotel room and there were a few pictures from MM that made the trip cost worth every penny. My DS5 met Snow White and as she was signing his autograph book, he ran over and grabbed a carnation from the flower bed and gave it to her. The photographer caught that moment. An amazing photo! And MM also caught the moment my DD2 saw Minnie Mouse which had Zero people in line so they played for several minutes before the next family came along....and of course my DD's reaction to seeing Anna and Elsa in the room! Well worth the investment as it gives you lots of candid shots you wouldn't be able to get with your own camera because you're teaching the photographer how to work your camera.

Is there a limit to how long you can access your MM photos? (I apologize if someone has already asked this and I missed the answer)

They're deleted from your account 45 days after they're taken.

upon research i decided to buy memory maker too but i was wondering if AP get discounts for it? i just bought mine so i have no idea.

I am, too, I bought it but never got an e- mail confirmation or anything. I am going to call and ask.

No, they'll send you a PhotoPass card to use instead of a Magic Band (or you can buy a Magic Band if you want).
