Memory Maker vent

Feeling very frustrated and need to vent! I was just about to do the advance purchase of Memory Maker for our upcoming trip at the end of the month. Bad me for not looking at the information sooner. To ship to Canada, it will cost me an extra $25 US and it will arrive days after we arrive at the world:rotfl: $25 to mail me a card that will arrive too late. The other option is that I can pick it up at a Will Call location. I am told that the Will Call kiosk are by the ticketing windows. We will probably only arrive at the hotel after 9pm or later. Why couldn't they have it ready for us with the MBs when we check in, since they don't even ship those to Canada.

The main reason for my annoyance is that we had an ADR booked for Chef Mickey's for first thing the following morning, which we'd never done before and had been looking forward to it. I think 715am will be too early of an ADR to get to a park, assuming the Will Call kiosk is even open at the crack of dawn, then get over to the restaurant. We are using the buses. Guess I will need to cancel that ADR now. So many have been confused and/or annoyed about the FP+ but I figured we'd be ok with that since we are going at a slow time of year, was I in for a nasty surprise!
Thanks for listening!

Why not have it shipped to your hotel? As a fellow Canadian I am always having things shipped to my US hotels due to the ridiculous shipping rates here. When we were at WDW in December I had multiple packages shipped to both of the on-site hotels that we stayed at without problems. Just a thought....

That $25 shipping charge seems outrageous!

I picked my card up at Will Call at the MK on the first day- I brought my ID, the CC it was purchased on, and the confirmation number. They got me a card and linked it to my account in 10 minutes.

Give the photopass people a call (there is a number on your confirmation email) . I was able to link to my MDE account using the confirmation number in the email they sent. I still have to call to see if that will be sufficient, I just haven't had time yet :). Regardless, you still bought it 3 days ahead of time, so if you link it in MDE and have the restaurant scan your magic bands, your photos should still appear. It doesn't appear to be like photopass+ where you have to have a physical card to link.

Oh and the Chef Mickeys thing- we had the same problem. I told the guy at Chef Mickeys, showed him my confirmation email and he put the pictures onto a photopass card for me.

Then I held onto the photopass card. I was able to type the card number into my memory maker account, along with the photopass card from Enchanted Tales with Bell, and got all the pictures onto my memory maker account. I download them all without issues.

I am at WDW now, and I ordered MM last week. I had it sent to will call, but there is nothing to physically pick up. I linked it online (using the confirmation number I was given) and I could start using it immediately upon arrival.

So far it's been great. I was bummed that the whole ride photo system was down at DHS in the morning, so we missed out on RnRC and ToT photos. One other photo was missing, I emailed about it, and it showed up in my account the next morning.

Wow. I didn't think I wold get such fast reponses!
Thanks for all the great suggestions!! I feel so much better now that I have options.
Gotta love the Disboards for help! I guess it is why I always lurk even when there is no trip planned. Now I have to figure what option is best for us. Chef Mickey - here we come :)

Quick question, are you just having the photographers scan your magic band to link the pictures to MDE? Are the pictures showing up o.k.?

After 2 weeks of trying to work this out I have my MM linked on MDE but it's not showing under my reservations on the app, so am I good-to-go now??? :confused3

If you have magic bands- they scan your band.
If you don't, you get a card.

Either way, no matter what, if there are other things around the park where you get a photopass card ie- enchanted tales with belle, chef mickeys before you can get your card/account linked up, they can all be uploaded and linked to your account.

You view the photos through mydisneyphotopass.com
Once you register, using your MDE info, you go to the claim photos link. If you have a magic band you click on that. If you have a card, you click on the tickets/passes link and then type in your card number. Whatever is on that card, should link to the rest of your photos. There are separate links at the top for each park so they are separated that way.

Hold on to the card until your downloading days are over just to make sure. The lady at the MK told me to download all of the photos to your computer to make sure you have originals and then you can go back and add fun boarders and what not the pictures.

In 3 days we got about 170 pictures. We did a lot of character meet and greets, but still it was worth it. For each character meet and greet we probably got 4-8 pictures. They started snapping pictures the entire time DS was with the character.

I was super apprehensive about buying it for the limited time we were there, but after downloading all of the pictures today and not having to whip out my camera every time we saw a character it was well worth it.

Also, if you have any questions, the photopass/ memory maker people at the Kodak store at DHS are awesome. They answered tons of questions, showed me how to link a photpass card and showed me how to download.

Mine didn't show it was linked either, but when I went to pick up my card at will call they said it was linked. I don't know. I don't think the system is perfect and still has some kinks to work out. If you have a few minutes stop into guest relations or will call when you get there and they will get it all figured out.
