Memory Maker Newbie.

  1. Do I just book one memory for my whole family or do I need one for each person? If just, one how is it linked to each person's band or is it just linked to one?
  2. Are all the photos downloadable so I can send to Shutterfly (or somewhere else) to have them printed?
  3. Are there any hidden costs I should be aware of?

1. One for the whole family. It's linked on each person's band. It evens works for two (or more) parties, if they're connected as "friends and family" through My Disney Experience.
2. Yes, you can download all the photos. You can download them one by one or in a batch at the end of your trip.
3. Hmm, I don't think so, though you get a $30 discount if you buy it early.

We've always gotten a lot of bang for our Memory Maker buck. I hope you enjoy it!

Not to be a Disney schill, but the MM is definitely worth the price. My advise: use and abuse those photo opps. If a photographer asks if you want pics, just do it even if its only a few. It doesn't cost any more if you get 1000 pics taken or 10.

My teens had strict instructions to seize any and all pictures opportunities if they weren't with us. They did great! The linked magic bands make it so Easy!

Definitely only one for everyone traveling with you - even friends or family in different rooms! Make it a really good deal when you're spread among a lot of people.
Download is the only way to get the photos (unless you pay additional to have Disney burn the CD for you and mail it to you). You also receive a waiver PDF so that you can print to Shutterfly, Walgreen's, etc. or make photo books.
The only hidden costs I know of are paying for the physical CD and I think there is an additional CD you'd have to purchase of stock photos. I think a long time ago when it was Photopass printed on a CD, it included some stock park photos, but now all you get are your own shots.

Just wanted to add my two cents.

1. Whole family

2. Yes

3. No

Ask any and all photographers for pictures. We got 400+ on our last trip

For the ride photos, how will they appear on my MM? Should I stop at each counter n scan my magic band or do they automatically appear?

Make sure you ask for magic shots, too!! My 7 year old took it upon himself to do that, lol.

We had some awesome photographers that spent a lot of time with us once they realized we were really interested (and prepurchased).

You can also get ride videos from ToT and 7DMT. As mentioned before, it is all automatically saved in your Photopass account. No need to scan your bands for the rides.

Thank you for all who replied. This is my first MM and I want to make sure I get all my pictures

Agree w/a PP to take advantage of it and stop and get a bunch of pics from every photo pass photographer. Def get your $ worth! We brought our iPad to keep in our room & checked every night before bed to see they were all there! Then the second I got home I downloaded all the photos to my computer (free of charge) and they're mine forever!!! And I did print them at CVS easily and made beautiful canvas prints. You will enjoy the little add-ons you can do from home, like fireworks in the background or the name of the ride and the year etc. Very awesome

Is Memory Maker a set priced, or based upon the number of ticket days?

Is Memory Maker a set priced, or based upon the number of ticket days?

It's a set price of $169 if purchased in advance, $199 if you wait until you are there. Definitely more worthwhile if you are there more days (and therefore more photo opportunities); if you ride many of the rides that offer pictures; if you're doing things like Pirates League, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Jedi Training Academy where they take tons of photos; if you're doing any character meals that offer posed shots with a character before you're seated, like Cinderella's Royal Table, Akershus, Tusker House, Chef Mickey, etc.

How do the ride pictures get linked to the mm account?

Disney Magic! (Through the long-range rfid in your magic band.) If you don't have a magic band, you'll get a Photopass card (plastic credit card type) and you'll need to scan it at the photo preview area at the end of each ride. This method means you can't get a 7 dwarfs ride photo because it has no photo preview area.

Is it worth it for us, do you think? I've never used MM but am definitely tired of not being in the pix, and I want to minimize the amount of time I have my phone out to take "just one more" pix. Ok, I want to eliminate that time. On the other hand, it's just the two of us this trip, we won't be doing any character meets in the parks, and we have just one character breakfast. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Only you can decide whether you think you will get enough out of MM or not, but I will say that I got it last year, and thought it was great for us. But we did some meet and greets, which I had never done before, and would probably not have done if I didn't get MM, and it was fun. If you don't do the character meets, you would need to make it a point of stopping at most of the other photographers and ride the attractions that capture photos and or videos in order to get your money's worth. Since the photos are $14.95 a piece, you would need to have more than 12 photos that you would want in order to make it worth your while. I had about 250 photos, and 90% of them were great photos. I also liked that I didn't have to lug my big camera around with me.

Some people also will just ask the photopass photographers to take the photos with their personal phone or camera. I've never done that, so I cannot comment about it, but I guess it is an option.

Funny story, when I was booking my 2013 trip for me and my friend, I was going to get memory maker. She talked me out of it, saying it was too expensive (I was paying, but whatever) and she said we could just pass our cameras back and forth and each of us could take a photo of the other. Well, I had no idea that she was HORRIBLE at taking photos. So bad, that at HS, I asked her to take a photo of me in front of the NYC street and I was NOWHERE in the photo. She didn't just cut off my head or something, I wasn't in the photo at all! We laugh about it now, and it's a joke, but I was pretty mad when we came home and I didn't have any good photos of me from the trip. Needless to say, I got MM last year and I am doing it again this year.

You're a good friend, to be able to laugh after that! Thanks for the insights, I was especially interested in the character part of MM.
