Memory Maker Price Increase!

I've really been debating whether to spring for MM again this year - I'm solo and like meeting lots of characters. CMs have always been great about taking pics with my phone or camera, but as a PP said, it's just nice to have the extra person taking pics. I'm also intrigued by the new animated magic shots. There's a part of me that says MM isn't worth the expense, but there's the other part of me that says "you take one real vacation a year, you'd might as well splurge."

Those were the videos we got too but we also got "animated" videos as in they took a still and added video animation to it. Sven and lights. Dancing olaf. And during the holidays got prep and landing at the toy soldiers during the day not during MVMCP. My understanding is that they plan to continue to expand this as well.

Yes...I couldn't remember what all the videos in our account were of (and didn't want to say something incorrect and get DIS-boarded)...looking back at it, we got one with Baymax, Sven, one where Tinkerbell flys up to the top of the castle and away, and then the ride ones for TT and 7DMT...didn't get any at EPCOT though...but don't remember getting a magic shot there...I think that is a key, some of the videos with the stills are linked to specific magic shots.

They increased the price of the advanced purchase Memory Maker to $169 but the regular Memory Maker is still $199.

If you know you want it and can purchase it 72 hours in advance you are all set. If you are still on the fence, for the cost of only 2 additional pictures, you can buy it after you have reviewed the photos in your photo pass account and decide if it makes sense for you. This way if there is only 5 pictures you want, you can buy them individually, and if there is 15 you can buy Memory Maker at $199

Personally I would review the pictures and then decide if you have to have it. You can also buy them individually so it doesn't have to be an all or nothing. For us there were two pictures that I preferred the Disney photographer's pictures to ours so I bought two pictures spending about $30. Way cheaper then springing for the whole thing. And if you do decide to buy the whole thing then you're only spending a little extra money by deciding after your trip.

So here's a question (hope I'm not violating any rules by asking). We're meeting some friends at Disney towards the end of our trip, would it be possible for all of us to share the MM? We're arriving a few days before and they're leaving a few days after, so our trips cross paths but aren't on the same exact days. We're also staying at VWL and they're staying at Shades of Green (if that is needed info, ha!).

Yes you can share MM.

Things to keep in mind:

1) you have to link them through MDE as friends and family and make sure the "XXX can view and purchase your PhotoPass photos" is next to your name in their MDE. Otherwise you won't have access to their photos.

2) Only the owner of Memory Maker can edit and download photos. You will either have to give your MDE password to your friends or you will be doing all the edits for both families. Alternatively, you can create another MDE account, assign the MM to the new account and link both families to the new account. The only thing in the new MDE is MM, so neither of you have access to the others reservations or FPP

3) Because your friends are staying at Shades of Green, they will not receive magic bands. If they want the ride videos, they should consider purchasing at least 1 Magic band for the group (more if they plan to split up).

4) If they do not want a MB, you should give them the MM card you received in the mail. You don't need it, because MM is already attached to your account. This will eliminate any question of whether or not the have access to MM

5) they can also collect Photopass cards from the photographers and enter / scan the cards into the computer.

Enjoy your trip.

I knew that the cost was $199 when MM was purchased at Disney, but the pre-purchase price was $149.95. Now the website says pre-purhcase rate is $169.99! When did the price go up??? And is there a discount for the $149.99 price?

you have no idea about how mad this made me! i called to book a memory maker in early december - for our christmas trip. Apparently, i called the day it went up. The cast member didn't even know. She was telling me the price saying "this can't be right." Then, she put me on hold and came back to confirm. I did not book it, needless to say. I sent an email to customer care - saying they should at least inform their staff of such things. All I got was a call saying, we will pass that along to our marketing department. I'm an annual passholder - you think they could've at least sent an advance warning email.
