So, on our upcoming trip my sister is planning on upgrading to AP when we get there. She will be the only one doing this, so I have a concern. Originally, we were going to purchase one Magic Maker since we linked our accounts together (there are two hotel reservations but they both show up on both of our accounts). However, since she is getting the AP and that comes with Photo Pass, there is no point in getting the Magic Maker separately anymore. But my concern is, will it still work the same way? As in, will my pictures show up on her pass, even though I don't have an AP? OR will they show up for purchasing on my end? I am so confused and I dont want to miss out on pictures because I don't have Magic Maker.

Memory Maker

My DS got an AP that Photopass was included last December, I only had old AP and his friend is CM. We are all linked on MDE. All my and friends photos from past showed up on his account and continue to do so, even if he is not there. He can download them without watermark.

Darn it, I always call it the wrong thing lol! So, basically as long as our accounts on MDE are linked, we should have no problem having our bands read without her in order to have them show up on MDE without watermarks?

That is how it worked for us and am sure others will chime in.

Yes, as long as your group is linked in MDE you should all get the pictures, even when your party is not together. :)

As long as you are friends or family in MDE and have photopass/memory maker sharing turned on then you get all the photos. You don't even have to be traveling with them.

Think of it this way: it's all just a matter of access. (Remember- NOTHING is stored on the bands- they are merely keys granting access to your MDE account.)

When you link MDE accounts together, anyone on those accounts will have all their collective pictures stored in one bucket, regardless of whether there is an AP or MemoryMaker involved or not. Everyone can see all the pictures.

Without MemoryMaker or an AP, everyone can purchase pictures and then download that picture.

MemoryMaker allows the purchaser to download all pictures for 30 days from the date the picture was taken.

Officially, Annual Passes allow access to all pictures taken during the time the AP is valid. Pictures are accessible for a year after that. Everyone on the linked accounts can see the pics, but only the AP holder can download them.

In reality, it doesn't appear that Disney cares much about enforcing any time limits on access to the pics. In August of 2015 we had a trip with our granddaughter and purchased MM - got lots of great pictures. The pictures disappeared from my PhotoPass account in October. We purchased APs in December after they added the whole picture thing to the AP. As soon as I activated the pass, all those pictures from August were suddenly available again - and they still are. Several accounts were linked and everyone's pictures are there, everyone can see them, I can download them. Another person who is on one of those linked accounts, but was not actually at WDW, also has an AP. He can see and download all the pictures as well.

Hope this helps some.

Steve

As long as everyone's linked to family and friends list of the AP holder, the AP holder will receive everyone's photos regardless if their in the same park together or even at Disney World together. The AP can download all the photos

Sorry, another question. We have our APs, but they're not activated yet. We'll arrive on 11/12. DSister and BIL will be arriving Thursday, but on regular tickets - not APs. Our reservations are linked - we can see each other's plans, FPs, and dining reservations. BUT....no Memory Maker is listed under my account. There's a link to purchase it, but that's all. Is that because the AP isn't activated?

Thanks!

While Memory Maker and the AP download entitlement function mostly the same, they are separate products.

You won't see Memory Maker in MDE unless you've purchased MM. Since you will have an AP with the download entitlement, you don't need to purchase MM.

MDE will not have any indication that you are entitled to free photo downloads. Once the AP is active and you either select PhotoPass from the MDE mobile app or log on to the MyDisneyPhotoPass.com website, the pictures will not have a watermark and will be free to download until they expire.

Thank you, Michael! That helps. I've purchased Memory Maker before, so having it as a perk brings questions.

Adding borders, stickers, etc. on the PhotoPass website is the same for both. One big benefit to the AP download entitlement is that the download and photo expiration windows are both extended to 1 year.

Once you do activate the AP, you may see old photos return to your PhotoPass account.
