Memory Maker and cards?

Just to make sure I understand it correctly, if I buy the memory maker but have cards instead of magic bands, I can still get all of our photopass photos and the ride photos, just not the videos, right? Also, since we have two families traveling together and they are all listed under my MDE, I can put their photopass cards under the memory maker as well? My thought is that we can all have photopass cards and then I can combine them all when I get home to download all the photos. Am I correct in all this? This is the first time we have traveled down with the memory maker option available.

Funny I just chatted with a rep at Disney because I had the same question. She assured me there wasn't anything I would miss if we didn't have magic bands. I asked specifically about the pics and video on 7DMT and she said we would be able to get them using our cards. I am hoping she was correct! Anybody else have experience with this?

I don't know about your question regarding two families using memory maker, sorry.

If you can get ride videos without a magic band, that is new (but great!) also, previously if you had no Magic Band, you did not receive your 7 Dwarfs ride photo, because that ride has no photo station at the end where you can get your photopass card swiped. But it sounds like the disney person says this is no longer true.

Do you know if you receive a separate photopass card from photographers or if your ticket card doubles as your photopass card? In the past, if you didn't have bands, you would get a laminated paper card from the photographers or ride photo area and it would have a code number on it. You'd enter this number into MDE on your Memory Maker page to upload all your photos. I thought recent MM threads here made it sound like they aren't handing out cards any more, so I wonder if the photographers just scan your ticket the same way they'd can a band.

when I ordered Memory Maker for my upcoming trip in May I was sent a plastic card for photopass photographers to scan, in addition to having Memory Maker attached to my Magic band, I believe the photographers still can hand out one-off photopass cards that you can manually link online in My Disney Experience if you don't have a magic band or your card available.

I think I will give them a call and verify as well. We leave in a week, so them sending me a card would most likely not make it in time. And if I cannot get the ride photos with the cards, then I plan not to purchase memory maker.

I am not too sure they give out cards anymore except for the one they send you when you purchase the mm. Our last trip we heard 2 different pp photographers said they don't give out card anymore.

Last week, the photopass photographer with Anna was having trouble getting my magicband to scan, so she handed me an old school photopass card that she also scanned just in case my pictures did not come through with the band. Worked just fine for me.

ratpack....let me know what they said when you called. Curious if the information I got is accurate. Thanks!

I just called a few minutes ago and they said as long as I have the memory maker on my MDE which is where all of our passes are linked to, then all members of our party can scan their tickets at the photo booth on the rides and have the photos put on MDE for me to download later. I guess at that point we do not even need the photopass cards.

Ok thanks! I am considering memory maker but really didn't want to pay if I couldn't get ride photos or videos. I guess things have changed because I know people have said 7DMT wasn't available unless you had a magic band.

They still have cards and have them out in certain places like enchanted tales with belle, but most photographers didn't have them anymore as it has been said before they mostly use MB and the tickets for those without MB.

Not sure how somebody without a magic band would get 7dmt photos and videos. They dont have monitors and a place to collect your photos (like at splash) or at least they didnt in Dec.

The lady on the phone told me that there is a place that you place your magic band or card, is this not at 7DMT?

No there are no monitors or touch pads at Seven Dwarf mine. Others that had photopass stores before spalsh buzz etc have touchpads where you can use your cards. So I'm not sure where you would link your card. We have had MB so not an issue. Ride photos and MB are automatically linked so no need to "touch" the band. Although my son did and ended up with 2 on my account when he did.
Videos and animation shots (your still photo with animated overlay) are only available through the Purchase of MM. You may see them in your account as an enticement to purchase it after your trip but then you would pay pull price. Currently video are ToT and SDMT. Animated shots vary - at thanksgiving we got Prep and landing at the toy soilders in MK. And Dancing Olaf.

You can also go to the photopass site at the park and they can pull up everything that was taken using their photographers. When we were there last December, my granddaughter did the Wonderland Tea Party. We lost the photopass card they gave us (long story) but I went back to the Grand Floridian and the pictures were there. All I had to do was go through the bunch and select the ones that had my granddaughter in them.
