Memory Maker and 2 families

We are going to WDW later this month with my sister and her family. Can we do the new Memory Maker (old PP+) with both of our families? We will be together for a lot of the trip, but there may be times that we aren't or rides that my family is on that hers isn't on for vice versa. Can we both put link our magic bands to the same account? Hopefully this question makes sense! It seems a waste of money for both of us to buy it when we will be together most of the time. Has anyone encountered this in the last month or so when they made the change?
