I did an audition to be in the musical Honk!, and i got the lead of Ugly. But i have one problem. I have a bad memory. Any tips on helping remember the lines??
AWW! I did that musical in 8th grade! Well the only advice I can give you is do it over and over and over and over and(Are you catching my drift?) repetition makes habit which makes memorization.
Definatly go over it, go over and learn all of your lines first. Then work on where they fall into the script and you're cue lines. Lots of repition will help you, its basically the only way.
Read the script. Over and over. Its the best thing to do for a lead. Because then you know what happens around yours. And then if you know what happens around it if you happen to forget a line you can improv.
Read the script over and over again, reading your own parts out loud. Even if it's to yourself in the mirror or something. Hearing yourself say it over and over will help you remember it until it becomes second nature to you.
Don't memorise just your lines.
It's important that you know most peoples lines, because if you aren't paying attention and miss your cue, welll.. you'll probably look bad.
Another thing, if you forget your line, don't say 'uhhh' it won't look good. Improvise or something. Don't give people death glares when they skip your line, or someone elses, again, it won't look good.
