There is a drop dead sell on SD memory cards at Compusa. 2gb at 7.99 and others.

I know several were stating they needed more!

CompUSA is going through bankruptcy. You never know what you will find from them. Just expect to have to deal with the manufacturer if there are any problems.

1 and 2 gig cards are dirt cheap just about everywhere, now that 16 and 32 gig cards have come out...

2 gig free after rebate..

2 gig 2.81

And a good thing they are cheap now, too. :)

I still prefer to go no bigger than 4 GB, and most of my cards are 2GB - better to lose only 300-600 photos if one of them goes bad than to lose four or five times that many on one of the bigger cards. For video I can understand needing the bigger space, but I will gladly swap out cards to keep the chances down of losing everything in one fell swoop. :thumbsup2

true..although I've read several articles that claim you are at greater risk of card failure, by swapping out cards frequently

my new camera gives me 18-19 meg files, so 16 gig cards are a wonderful thing..

I'm looking for CF cards at a reasonable price. All our town has is Wal-Mart and they are kind of expensive there. Any deals on the net right now? I've been looking but have yet to find any good deals.

I haven't heard that one. Mostly I keep hearing that deleting individual files increases the risk vs. formatting your card each time you download the pics from it.

Frankly, I'm willing to accept the greater risk of failure to offset the risk of losing a whole vacation worth of pics if I have one.

I often see sales at places like Office Depot, Circuit City, Best Buy, and Staples. Their regular prices are not great, but the sales are sometimes pretty good, especially at Office Depot. I recently got a good deal on 1gb CF cards at Radio Shack; again, regular price wasn't great, but the sale price was pretty good.

Lately I've been getting MicroSD cards from Meritline. They have good prices on most flash memory products and sometimes have great sales. Just stick with the major brands like Sandisk, Lexar, and Kingston.

.

as card prices continue to drop, I replace my cards so they are never very old, since they all supposedly have a certain life expectancy...

The CompUSA name was bought by Tiger Direct. The two stores in Orlando stayed open under the new management.

Thanks! Have you ever purchased from mwave before? I found this- http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewprod...ASHMEDIA-CF&DNAME=Flash+Media+-+Compact+Flash
on their site. I've never used Kingston cards before but it seems that people haven't been having issue with them. I will have to do a little more looking around since I'm not sure if that card is an old version but the price seems great.

I'm not 100% certain but I think that's where I got my 8gig card, regardless they came highly recommended from someone on the dis...that's where I got both of those addresses

I just ordered 2 more of these (I was already using 2 that I bought last year)

newegg has others around that price as well. But like I said, I've used this specific Kingston card for about a year with no problems. At that price it was worth getting 2 more (you can never have enough).

For CF... here is Kingston 4GB CF..

With these 2 new Kingston cards I ordered I will now have I believe 6 Kingston cards. They are pretty reliable.

I have also been swapping out the smaller cards, but didn't realize this could cause problems. I just found that when I'm ready to upload my pics - and heaven forbid you try to do it at a drug store or something - it takes AGES to upload from the big cards. I have an 8 that took so long I finally just decided I didn't really want the pictures right then. The store closed, and they let me continue to try to finish, but warned that the machine was on a timer and would automatically shut down 30 minutes after closing...LOL! It was such a hassle that I can't imagine working with one of those huge cards. Has anybody else had any problems like that?

I would never stick my card in one of those machines, maybe I'm crazy but I will only put my cards in my cameras or my card readers.

I prefer to fine tune my pics on my pc before printing

Have you ever tried uploading your pics from home...

fortunately my local walmart does a great job of printing, so I upload from the comfort of home, and pic up my pics when it's convenient.

I don't know about the drugstore prices, but with walmart it's cheaper to do it this way than to use the walk up machines..

when you upload to your pc, are you connecting your camera, or using a card reader..

how old is your pc...

>>> drop dead sale

1. The Comp-USA store near me closed up a year ago as part of the bankruptcy proceedings (sigh).

2. I already bought all the memory cards I need, in the $12. to #15. apiece including the shipping for 2 gig (sigh).

Heads up! You'll see what seem like low prices on line (both eBay and others) but often the shipping seems unusually high and there is no discount on shipping when you order more than one.
