Hello everyone,I just wanted to share something...
My little brother is 25. He's sort of a "hippie" type, into extreme outdoor sports, ecotourism, lives in Colorado, etc...now, as much as we all love Disney, it's not what I would call an "authentic" experiece - not when compared to trekking through the rainforest or climbing Mayan ruins. So, I was talking to my brother on the phone the other day and mentioned I was going to Disney in May. I expected him to be disdainful or questioning of why I would want a "fake" experience like Disney when I could be hiking through Yellowstone or something like that.
Instead, he was sooo jealous! He instantly turned back into the little boy I once knew before he got so "cool."
We waxed nostalgic about our childhood trips for quite some time. He even told me that he keeps telling his girlfriend (who is equally as "cool" 
) that they need to go - and she can't understand the appeal. I was both surprised and touched by our conversation.So (sorry, I know this is long) I tell my mom about the conversation and she was surprised and touched too. She also thought he would be too worldly for Disney now. Then she said:
"You know, there were a lot of times your dad and I had to save every penny to afford the trips when you guys were kids. There were even times when some bills went unpaid. But, you kids were only young once and it was definitely all worth it!"
I got a little misty...just thinking of my parents leaving bills unpaid in order to take us to Disney World. In the long run, they knew that we were creating happy memories to last a lifetime. When I have kids, I'm going to take them to Disney World even if I have to get a part-time job to afford it...
