Memories Wedding: Beach Club or POR for trip with small children

Hello, We will be taking our first family vacation to Walt Disney World soon. We thought it would be a perfect opportunity to combine our first Walt Disney World vacation with our wedding and will be having a Memories Collection Wedding. We would like to know which hotel would be better with small children (including 2 babies) Port Orleans Riverside or Beach Club? TIA!

I've never stayed at either resort. However, I have stayed at the Boardwalk. Beach Club, Yacht Club & Boardwalk are all nice since they are within walking distance to Epcot. If you felt like doing a long walk, you can also walk to Hollywood Studios. (I only recommend that if you really want some exercise!) My friend has stayed several times at POR, and she enjoys it. Especially Yee Haa Bob in the lounge.
Beach Club I think also has a character breakfast restaurant? So that's also a plus staying there. If you do the Beach Club, try to rent dvc points if you can. You get a nicer/larger room for a better price. But it's also one of the harder dvc resorts to get.

I'm trying to figure out where we are going to stay as well for our wedding trip. I want it somewhat easy to get to & from our ceremony site, but I'm also looking at maybe doing an in room celebration, if we do the Memories package.

the location of beach club is great, it's certainly nice but i'm not a super fan of beach/yacht club. i love POR however the location of beach club and boat/walking options to parks makes me suggest that one, especially with kiddos. have a great time!

I think either resort you choose, you will have a great time. I love POFQ with young children. It is the smallest WDW resort and has only 1 bus stop for the whole resort which makes it great. No matter which room you get you are close to all the amenities. The furthest room is a five min walk to the main building. You have access to its sister resort POR and all of its amenities. You also have a boat to DTD which is fun to do one evening for shopping or dinner. The pool is never crowded and the grounds are so pretty. I love Building 5 and suggest reserving a river view room if you can afford it. So pretty. I have never stayed at BC but I visited it on my last trip. I think the main attraction here is the pool which has a sandy area where the babies can play. It is a very pretty resort and is walking distance to Epcot. You can also take a boat to Epcot and HS. I think I would save the extra cash and stay at POFQ and splurge on other things like your vow renewal and a nice dinner but it is ultimately up to you.

Beach club, hands down... access to Stormalong Bay, able to walk to and from Epcot (and boat to DHS with the kids). You will have access to the monorail from the Epcot station as well.

I wouldn't even consider POR honestly. I think the suggestion to rent points for a bigger room is a great one.

Looking at the map made this one of our top choices. My mother is going with us and we wanted to be close to the attractions and close to the monorail because she is elderly.

There's an FAQ right here on the Rent/Trade section of the Dis (it's in the DVC area) it was very helpful to me when I got some points transferred in. I think David's DVC Rentals also has an explanation of how his site works.

I was military at the time, so I had to make sure I had my husbands DD214. I will say though, there's not a lot of Disney magic at check in/tickets. However, at one of the restaurants (can't remember the name) I did get a little bit of Disney magic in service. For the govt/military price, you can't beat it. However, if you really want to be "in the magic" I'd go with the Beach Club.

And did you watch on the podcast the 7 in 7? They just did a review on the Beach Club rooms. BEAUTIFUL! However, the DVC have not been renovated. But still, it's a lovely resort.

I have stayed in both resorts, and I love them both. I'd go for the BC if I were you. The proximity can't be beat. With two babies, loading strollers onto a bus to get to any theme park will be more cumbersome. At the BC, you can walk to Epcot and HS, just pushing the stroller(s) along. Besides that, the pool area is awesome for babies and small kids. I definitely think it's worth the extra money, even though I loved POR.
