Hi all! I'm new! I don't know if this has been discussed, but we booked our Memories wedding for 11.12.11 and are waiting for our contract to get the ball rolling. I've been trying to figure out a good place to eat after the ceremony and pictures. We have our 4 guests coming, but others (probably a totally of 12-15 including us) have expressed interest in wanting to do a brunch or lunch after. (Ceremony is at 9 am). Besides making a reservation somewhere...is there anywhere we can set up a private area anywhere in the resorts. We're staying at the Polynesian, as that is where the wedding is.

Sorry if this has been asked before!

The restaurants at the Polynesian do not have private rooms. You can try working with Private Dining at the Polynesian (407-824-2165) to see if they'd set something up for you—maybe at the Tangaroa Foyer, which is used as the rain backup location for Sunset Pointe weddings?

However I think your best bet for a private meal at a nearby restaurant would be The Wave at the Contemporary resort (407-824-3800). Their private room has only a $200 food and beverage minimum at breakfast and a $400 minimum at lunch (for up to 35 people).

The only other monorail-accessible restaurant with a private room that's available at brunch/lunch is California Grill, and the smallest room there has a $1,000 minimum for that time of day.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

We did a small ceremony at the Swan & Dolphin and then had 27ppl at SANAA at Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a late lunch. I know it isn't near the Poly but wanted to share the info just in case being near Poly wasn't as important. It was great and the staff there were really helpful ~ in advance, I picked out a menu with appetizers, Soup/salad course, and then an entree along with wine. We did cake at the ceremony so we skipped dessert. It wasn't a completely private room but they do use folding screens to break you off from the rest of the dining room and it was really nice.

Hope that helps ~ Good luck in finding a great place for your event :)

Thank you both for your responses! It's a huge help. We've decided to do photos with Randy Champan (thanks to this board for the tip!) so we'll have to do a lunch around noon I would think. We booked the memories package for it's intimacy and now I think the rest of the day is getting blown into a bigger deal than we would like as far as lunch/dinner goes. So, hopefully it will all work out.

Thanks again for the advice!

Good luck in whatever lunch location you choose. We are also a Memories collection wedding who is using Randy at Luau Beach.

We're having a Memories Wedding in 11 days (wow. . .that's coming up fast!) and found out about a month ago that we will now be having two guests.

Originally, it was just the two of us and we were bummed at first, but then decided it would be fun just the two of us as Chef Mickey's for our Wedding dinner. We fell in love with the fact it would be just us two.

When we found out that my fiance's brother and sister-in-law were going to be able to come. We started planning that whole day with them. It took our intimate laid back wedding and forced us to change everything. Well, after talking with them, we decided to enjoy our meal alone and just meet them before for an informal cocktail hour.

Just remember, while it is great to accomodate your guests, it is your day and you should do whatever you feel comfortable with. We're actually planning a day before the wedding to have a dinner with family and friends so we can focus on ourselves on our wedding day. (We're lucky . . .we live in Orlando! :goodvibes )

Good luck. . .and congrats!

I've been following your PJ! We're in Orlando, too! See, I agree with you 100%. We'll be doing lunch and hanging out a bit with guests after the ceremony/pictures/lunch. We have reservations to eat at California Grill wedding night for the two of us and my other half thinks it's rude we're doing that. The whole point to choosing a memories package was to make this an intimate...small event.

I'm SO EXCITED to see all your pictures! I got the idea of booking Randy from you so I can't wait to see how everything turns out for you...because we almost have the same plans! :goodvibes
