We're going to be arriving on May 29th and thought we'd make the 30th our first park day. However, due to that Monday (the 31st) being Memorial Day, we thought we'd better skip the parks that day b/c it might be really crowded with it being a holiday? Has anyone else ever been on Memorial Day? Maybe we're wrong and could go ahead and go that day.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

On one of our first trips to WDW we weren't familiar with U.S holidays and without realising it booked a character dinner at Crystal Palace on Memorial day. We first realised something was wrong when we arrived at the car park at the TTC and was told it was full and we were re-directed to the Epcot parking lot and told to get the Monorail back to Mk! I don't remember if we actually got on any rides that evening, but I do remember when we came to leave the park that Main Steet was so grid-locked that they opened up a castmember exit at the top of Main street and we left the park through that gate.

Yes it was busy, but these are still precious memories!

I know this story makes me look like a total idiot, but hey, if you can't laugh at your own mistakes....

Chica650,

Sounds like we have the same plan in mind for our WDW trip. We are arriving on the 29th (staying at CR) and going to the parks on the 30th. Memorial Day, however, we have decided NOT to go to any of the parks and just spend time at our resort swimming and hanging out. We will go back to the parks June 1st-5th. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the crowds are manageable but since I haven't ever been this time of year, I'm not sure how the rest of the week will be. This is our first trip to WDW in 7 years so I'm just excited to be going back! Have a WONDERFUL time!!

We are going the 29-7 and plan on getting there early on Memorial day at the MK and hitting what we can in FL then spending the rest of the day doing the attractions that we have skipped the last few trips (Hall of Presidents, CoP, Tom Sawyers island.) I know that those places will be crowded but I am hoping that they are more manageable then Splash Mountain etc. Mybe we will see you there! Have a great vacation!

Memorial Day weekend starts to get busy on Friday, goes full force through Monday, and then tapers of dramatically on Tuesday. Magic Kingdom (as always) seems to take the worst of it, so you may want to consider Epcot as a good park for the busiest day, and save MK for Tuesday or later.

We're actually there the week before and checking out on Saturday. I'm wondering if I need to drop my UPH for Saturday or not because it may be too crowded.

Last year we checked out on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and went to DTD. No crowds, no problems.

Wow. Thanks for all the replies! It looks like there are going to be a lot of us there at the same time! I'm still not sure what we'll do on that day. We have a day of just relaxing at the condo scheduled in, but we wanted to take it later in the week, not the second day there. Well, anyhow, all of your replies helped! Thanks again!

If you want to do a park, last year we were in Epcot on Memorial Day and it wasn't that bad. DS did TT twice, in single rider's line both times, with about a 15 minute wait. Didn't even realize it was a holiday until I got back to hotel that evening! It was busy there.
