Memorial Day weekend?

We are going to WDW from May 17 thru June 1, 2008. I’ve heard that the parks on Memorial Day weekend get very crowded so we’ll try to avoid the parks that weekend. This year Memorial Day is on May 26. So, do you recommend going to the parks the week before or the week after MD? I’ve also heard most schools in Florida get out before that weekend, is this true? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

In general, weekends are busier than weekdays and holiday weekends are busier than regular weekends.

The week or so before Memorial Day will have lower crowds than the week after Memorial Day. Once you get into June some schools start letting out. Also there are Star Wars Weekends (all June weekends) and Gay Days (first weekend in June).

Hello and Welcome
We will be there at the sametime, or at least until the 26th. May 17 is my DD's birthday. I am also hoping that MD weekend isn't swamped. I finally persuaded my parents to come down for our last five days not realizing at the time that the last 3 would be over MD weekend. She will never forgive me if they come down and it's jammed packed.

We were there last Memorial Day week (5/25-6/3) and didn't have any problems with crowds.
