Memorial Day weekend standard view at BWV?

Just wondering if we should book day by day for a standard view studio at BWV for next Memorial Day weekend....we need to conserve points as we'll have 3 trips next year! We'd try for OKW, but want to be near MGM for (hopefully) Star Wars Weekends. We did book our standard view for Jan. day by day, but I'm not sure that we needed to.

What do all you experienced DVCer's think?

We go every year during Memorial Day weekend. I booked last year day by day but the CM said it wasn't really needed. I just wanted to make sure I got the standard view studio. I plan to do the same this year...

Thanks! So how has it been the last few years? We did Memorial Day once...in 1994, and the parks were fairly empty to our great surprise. On MD itself a rain storm hit and we ended up having MGM almost to ourselves that afternoon. Are the Star Wars events usually going on that weekend? My dh and ds (who will be 7) will *love* that.

I do think I'll book day by day.... I guess I won't be the only one!

We usually leave the Sunday before Memorial Day (three years ago we were there on the Saturday before). It's usually pretty quiet until the first Saturday in June. The MK is VERY crowded that day so if you're at WDW, think about choosing another park. This year, the last day of the Star Wars weekend was our first day there. The year before we missed it entirely but I think they held it earlier in the month (or I was just excited and forgot about it.) The first week of June was noticeably more crowded than the last week of May, but not as bad as later in the summer.
I guess I'm just paranoid but I feel better calling day by day. The CM's don't mind and if you tell them what you're doing, they'll note your checkout date and the fact that you're calling day by day on your reservation. Then when you're done, they'll send out a confirmation. I love calling Member Services. They're very friendly, very competent and have the best 'on hold' music anywhere!

I'm quite glad I decided to call day by day as the cm at member services said "Really, its the only way to be sure to get the standard view...they book so quickly".

I didn't call until this afternoon, but apparently there are a lot of us members calling for those standard views for Memorial Day weekend today. So if you want one, make sure to get on the phone soon!

Lesley, I called this am to begin my ressies for 5/26 - 5/31. I called right at 9:00 and was able to get what I needed (2 2BR standard views). Wish me luck for the rest of the week! (Luck to you, too!)

I don't think you'll have any problem if you're calling at 9....so far I made both my calls after noon, and though I have had no problem the cm's mentioned that the standard views are going fast. Because of our particular situation for this trip...its an *extra* that we're squeezing in and we'll be spending a total of 22 nights next year, and a week of that is a preferred 2 br when we bring my parents...we needed to conserve the points and I wanted to be absolutely sure we did.

Today I did get a reminder to always make sure that MS is using the right points....when I went to add today the cm said "it looks like you'll need to borrow points" when I had just banked all the points for this ressie yesterday and have yet to use any of my 2002 BWV points! I have no idea how she came up with needing to borrow, but we did get it straightened out. I still have 2001 points left that I'm waiting to bank just in case we end up fitting in a trip this fall.

But anyway...I'll wish you luck as you just never know when you'll need it! Perhaps tomorrow will be the day that sells out standard view within hours
