Memorial Day Weekend Experience

DH & I are planning a Memorial Day weekend trip with our 2 granddaughters in 2018. We did this weekend a few years ago with our grandson and I don't remember that we had any real difficulties with the crowds. We are rope drop people so we get in and get out.

Can you give us your experiences with this particular holiday weekend? Pros and cons. I know some people stay clear of holiday weekends. It's like they say stay clear of MLK weekend but we have done before successfully.

We went down for Memorial Day weekend this past year, and while it was not uncrowded, we didn't find it particularly over-crowded. September at Food and Wine was significantly more crowded than Memorial Day weekend. I found the heat more bothersome than crowds. We also arrive for rope drop, and take a mid-day break to cool off. A good plan and a little luck can go along way that weekend.

That's what I think too. I'm wondering if we might do well to arrive on Thursday

We have visited that week many times. It is busy but manageable. We haven't found it particularly hot, we think it is much hotter in September. We have had tropical storms a couple of times which caused all day rain, which we hate!

We are visiting that same week this year!

Memorial day I think is that pivotal weekend where it can go either way depending on things like schools that needed to make up lost days with weather closures, etc.. It's also when disney starts the summer holiday so things like 24 hour event has happened on the first day of summer season a couple years, tings opening in spring open days before it. this year it's looking like pandora opening weekend is highly likely so that will make it go from crowded but nice to insane...

Last year I remember it was the weekend where the nicer spring crowded suddenly jumped up to summer crowded and a week later when fla schools got out it went "yes this is summer crowd now".

Two years ago when we went during that time I thought it was pretty crowded at all the parks, especially MK.
