Memorial Day Weekend Crowds?

Star Wars Weekends have been released and 1 is Memorial Day Weekend. If we went that weekend, it would give us 1 more day without taking time off from work. Who's been on Memorial Day weekend and how bad was it? We went Labor Day weekend 2001 (just a couple weeks prior to 9/11) and it was PACKED -- 120 min. waits on major rides. One member of our party is a die hard Star Wars fan who will want to see/do everything at MGM. Will he be frustrated with the crowd level? Is it worth it to pick a different weekend and take some time off from work? (this would be my thought)

Memorial Day Weekend crowd levels will be approximately the same thing as you experienced on Labor Day. In addition, there will be a huge bump in attendance at the Studios, although most of it will be concentrated near the Star Wars activities.

We have been to Star Wars Weekends during Memorial Day weekend four times, and never had any problems with crowds. It has always been surprisingly...empty! Last year we walked right in to a character meet and greet where Jedi Mickey was just standing around, there was NOBODY else there! We had no problem getting any signatures we wanted, although that isn't really what we went for. It was easy to get in to see the Anthony Daniels one-man show, and get pictures with all the characters.

Not that I want this to get out! This is our favorite time to go!!!

Thank you Simba2...I've just decided to switch our trip from 6/26-7/1 to 5/7-6/3. We really wanted to do SW weekend (DH and DS5 are huge fans), but I didn't think our son should miss anymore school. But he is only in kindergarten and this may be the last time he can miss school to go to Disney. 5/26 is DH 40th b-day...what a great surprise!! I think I will tell him that night!!!

I am so excited...I just hope I can keep the secret.

Keep your eyes out for us...we'll be the family with grins from ear to ear!!!

Glad to help you change your dates, deanna2426. It will be a great 40th gift for your DH. And thanks barbarabee for your imput. Memorial Day doesn't sound bad at all. Maybe we'll decide to try that weekend.
