We were supposed to be in Disney right now but our kiddo got sick. They moved our trip from May 14-20. Problem is we have an out of state graduation on May 28th. Back to back trips. We are debating combing them now and doing disney the week after memorial day. Memorial day would be our first park day. How bad would the crowds be? We have only been in late August and February and our son uses a wheelchair so I worry about heavy crowds.

Probably pretty bad crowds, especially MK. Any holiday weekend tends that way, particularly this one which many people consider the beginning of summer.

I understand your concern as DH uses a powerchair. We were silly enough to go to CRT for breakfast on Christmas Day once. By 9:30, Main Street was literally shoulder-to-shoulder across the street. Thankfully, a good fairy disguised as a CM spotted us and a woman in a scooter and guided both to the MK Gate.

We headed for Epcot which was more crowded than we'd ever seen it but in pockets that soon thinned out as we moved along. Quite doable, although I suggest checking for any special events there that weekend other than Flower & Garden. There can be things aimed to bring in locals that might add to the crowd somewhat.

Good luck and better health!

Thanks! His teacher told us to go when it's best for his mobility issues even if it means missing school. By combing trips it saves us a 24 hour round trip drive since we would fly for all of it. But I want us to have the best possible time at Disney!!! I figured weather will be about the same

I’d say it will be a good learning opportunity for your son. Crowds are tough but part of life and you just have to learn to navigate. If there is anything particular you are concerned about please feel free to ask. I’ve been in a manual wheelchair for 40 years and have done Disney on its busiest weeks.

Have you been during that week? We will use his manual hair instead of power. I'm worried we won't get tron or guardians virtual queue or the handicap seating for shows. For reference we have been late August (low crowds) and February 2022 between Valentines and Presidents day.

I haven’t been that specific week yet but funny enough I’m going that week this year. I have however been Thanksgiving week pre Covid and it was bonkers crowded. VQ is a pain in the *** no matter what so no tips there but definitely think really hard about maybe getting DAS if you can. Obviously the wheelchair doesn’t qualify for DAS but if you have other issues that qualify definitely get it because it works really well. The biggest thing is just being patient.

We had our DAS already he does qualify. He is also an early riser so that isn't an issue getting to the parks early. Such a hard decision!

That's great that ya'll have DAS, it will help tremendously. Like I said my biggest recommendation is patience. Disney World can be really intense for anyone and being in a wheelchair adds to the variables. That said, it is hands down one of the most accessible places in the world and the CMs are incredibly helpful in my experience. Don't hesitate to ask them for help or advice if you need it. Also, if you see another person in a wheelchair make new friends and ask them if you have questions. I'm always happy to help out and other folks with disabilities tend to be the same way. Ya'll will be fine and your son will make it work like a champ, I'm sure of it. Have a great time!

We went Memorial '22 for the grand opening of Guardians. The crowd was smaller than pre-Covid. The queues for the Lightning Lanes were short and most were a walk-through.
