Memorial Day week question

Planning our second trip to Disney for May 2016. Hoping to go the week school ends but that falls on Memorial Day weekend which I have read the parks are packed. So my question is if we arrived a few days before Memorial Day weekend and stayed a few days after that weekend and just skipped going to the parks Sat and Sunday, how busy are the days prior and after? Especially looking for opinions from anyone who has gone during Memorial Day week. Thanks

We have been the week of Memorial Day a few times and honestly have not found it to be that bad. The weekend before and the actual Holiday itself are usually more crowded than normal, but after Monday, the crowds seem to go down a good bit.

Also, I don't know if I would necessarily skip going to the parks on Sat and Sunday. I think I would use Fastpass+ to book a few of the headliners and would also get to the park at rope drop to ride as much as you can before lunchtime, then maybe take an afternoon pool break.

We have been the week before and love it .... going back this year. We don't know about Saturday cause we are sleeping (after 24 Hour Party ) but we went to parks on Sunday and Monday finding each day a little more crowded and by Tuesday they were pretty busy the rest of the week. This time we are going the week before and heading home on Memorial Day.

We arrived on Memorial Day last year and went to Epcot with evening EMH. It was not bad at all, I was like you and expected the parks to be packed. We had a good time and it wasnt as crowded as I thought . I worried for nothing . Went to HS the Thursday after Memorial day and there was not hardly any crowds , it was a 3 on touring plans crowd calendar. The other parks were more crowded but not terrible, I would say average crowds about a 6 if you ever check crowd calendars. The MK was more crowded around main street and Fantasyland but it was managable. We had a good time and the weather was chilly the first night but it warmed up and was actually 90 one day. We had a rain shower almost every day for about an hour.
I really enjoyed our stay that week.

We went over Memorial DAy weekend once and the crowds were not bad at all. I wouldn't skip the weekend. We flew in on the Wednesday prior and left on the Wednesday after. It was a great week and never felt crowded. This was in 2011.
