Memorial Day Re-Opening ?

A late May opening would actually surprise me less than anything earlier than that. This whole two week thing was a bait and switch to make it easier for us all to accept at first.
Honestly, I'm worried that it may not be open in time for my trip in July. If that were the case, though, we would have much bigger problems as a world than whether Disney is open or not.

I’m hoping. June 8-18th here we optimistic. But realize it’s a possibility. I don’t see lots of openings. I think people are going to hold out. I need to buy our annual passes. But half feel like there will be a deal. To help bring more into the parks

I don't know that it was truly a bait and switch so much as it aligned with how Florida has tackled this, which seems to have been to wait through core spring break even though that had serious issues. They also have to deal with cancellations and refunds, and by spacing it a bit it helps, pardon the phrase, flatten the curve for customer service.

I wasn't referring to just Disney. They are just responding to directions from above. I mean the system as a whole. 2 weeks won't do much, as people can be sick for that long without even realizing it. My state said first school resumes on 3/30, then 4/8, next it will be 4/20 I'm sure. Easier to plan week by week than throw "you're going to be stuck inside for the next month and a half" all at once.

I already bought tickets to the second Halloween party which is during the third week of August. I really hope for the world and for me...that Disney would've been open for a while when my trip rolls around. I also wonder if the virus cases are still pretty bad in the summer, if Disney is willing to refund party tickets even though they usually are not refundable?

I think dates are a sliding thing right now, but I don't expect schools or major openings until after Easter. Earliest.

And the numbers coming out this next week will say a lot.

I'm not expecting any schools to reopen their facilities. At best, they will continue to provide education via computer.

I agree. Schools are done for the year. As my early May trip slowly slips away, which is following my April cruise, I’m already working on a replacement trip for my early a June trip with the grandkids. As I’m working on my August trip, I feel like it’s a waste of time. Feeling defeated, but safe at home, so it’s all good. Hopefully I’ll get a do-over

I just moved my May 2 trip to May 16 start. I have over 250 points in holding because I cancelled a trip that was to begin March 4, so I don’t benefit. I will keep trying to move the points ahead in reservations.

On 3/19, Indiana schools all closed until May 1 per the governor. They all can have up to 20 days excused so many are doing planned spring breaks and then elearning ~3 days a week (those not doing elearning may have to extend their school year). If things continue the state may excuse more days. Most schools are still providing meals. Colleges mostly gave an extra week of spring break and then moved to online classes. The nice thing about this is that it provides a sense of continuity and gives parents a chance to plan, at least for the next 5-6 weeks. The bad part is it doesn't provide a good gauge for us of when things might return to normal. We've got a local travel ban (work/essential travel only, for the whole county) since 5pm Friday for 2 weeks. We've got 5 cases according to the state website but social media suggests a lot more (or our health department is completely incompetent, but I know the Dr in change and he's awesome). Are people falsely claiming they have it?

I agree the 2 weeks that the gov't imposed was just a panacea. We have a loooong way to go in this fight. And we will see the sunshine again.I wouldn't be surprised if most if not all schools are finished for the year.
