Membership perks and event bookings

I know there are some fun events that DVC offers it's members like cruises, moonlight magic, new hotel previews etc. How do members get notified of when these will be, do they send out emails or it's in a portal? I'm also wondering, with DVC rooms needing to be booked so far in advance, how do people book if there's an event coming up when the date hasn't been announced yet? For example, we go to pride nite in June at Disneyland every year but it's already February and the dates haven't been announced yet. When they are, is people's only choice to be put on a waiting list if it's three months out?

There’s a member website where they post information about events, and they also send emails, but some members have trouble getting the emails. Hanging out here on DISboards is a great way to keep up, because someone will post as soon as they see whatever notice goes out.

If it’s a recurring event, we try to guess the dates and then book within our home resort window, i.e., if not at 11 months, then at 7 1/2 or 8 months out, and hope we can modify if our guess is wrong. For events like Moonlight Magic, sometimes notice really does come very late, and that means some owners do end up on waitlists.

Ah yes, I am learning all about modifying, waitlisting and walking this is great info as I know the pride event is always in June and last year was mid June, thank you!

Is moonlight magic usually on a different month every year? I saw pictures of members with the three cats from aristocats and was so jealous

So far, they have happened at different times and the characters have been different too.

Yes, for us it’s just a matter of luck, especially because we like to visit in January and they usually don’t announce one year’s MM events until late the previous year.
