Membership Card Question

I am a post-April 4th resale buyer. I did an add-on to get membership benefits. On the website I am able the AP discount but am a little confused about the membership card. I can request a physical card or print off a digital card. The card is blue background with white lettering (which I think is right for discounts) but they both says it expires in 3 months. Is this correct? I have to request a new card every 3 months? That seems a little absurd to me so not sure if it is an error on the website or if that is the new policy.

The digital card, found online, only lasts three months. The physical card also carries an expiration -- but that date is several years out.

The three month validity is clearly noted on the member website:

Need your Membership Card now? Use this digital version that will be valid for 3 months from the date you access the card.

I'm a new DVC member and had the same question. Was going to wait until closer to my trip date to order the card. Thanks for clearing this up. Looks like I can get my card earlier!

When you order a new (or replacement) card, it can take up to 8 weeks (maybe longer) before you receive it. So for the physical card, order as early as possible.

When I go to order the physical card, the card preview still shows a date 3 months out so that is why I am confused. I guess it is an error on the website. I'll order my card and see what comes.

The digital card will always show an expiration date 3 months out, it will "renew" every day. If you forget your card when you travel, you can pull it up on a phone. For our last trip I forgot my physical card, but just went on the website and took a screen shot of my card and just used that. The 3 month expiration is meant to keep members who sell their contracts from getting perks just by using a screen shot.
