Membership Card in my Name?

How important is it to have a membership card in my name? I am listed 2nd on our deed and after 3 phone calls, a trip to SSR and an exchange of e-mails, I still do not have a membership card in my name. Both of the temporary cards issued in my name have expired.

We have 3 cards in my husband's name, Bruce: the original card that came after our deed recorded and 2 more sent in response to our other 5 requests. Can I just be Mrs. Bruce and use one of his cards? If so, what evidence will I need that I am Mrs. Bruce?

I have had no problem making all of our travel arrangements, but I am very frustated with trying to get a card issued. If it is really just one more thing that I will carry around in my wallet and never use, I may just throw in the towel.

Thanks -- Suzanne

I won't give up either, it's just the point of it. You pay alot for the timeshare you want everything that belongs to you. I really don't know if it matters if you have a card in your name or not, but have you tried calling your Guide and let him/her know. Try going through them. If you did talk to your Guide then call member srevices and tell them, they are the ones who recently sent me new cards. Or next time you are in Disney go over to DVC at Saratgo Springs and let them know there. I just went there in Jan. to inform them I wasn't getting all the DVC perks that are sent through the mail or my DVC canvas bag when I bought points and they gave me everything right there.
Hope you get your card soon.

Odd, really, that we keep hearing of this problem. Mom & I bought together in 1992, we've always had our own membership cards, even when they've had to issue replacements because our old ones "wore out." It truly shouldn't matter who is listed first on the deed, as long as you are both full owners and one of you is not an "associate."

Are you 100% sure you're on the deed and not just added as an associate member? If you're on the deed, call DVC and ask for a supervisor and explain what's going on.

Our deed is listed as myself and husband and also my daughter's name is on it too. We got the 3 temp card immediately and within a month we got the 3 blue permanent cards. My daughter had no problem getting her card when we got ours. It seems strange that the OP can't get their cards. Maybe a call to their guide might help.

After Dean's comment, I reviewed my deed again and verified that I am listed as an owner.

So I called MS this morning (on hold, I was listening to Michale Bolton belting out Go the Distance, which was probably prophetic) and must have spend about 10 minutes with the CSR trying to impress upon her that I needed a card in MY name, not another one in my husband's name. She probably thought I was a little nutty because I wouldn't hang up and just keep repeating the whole saga! She did acknowledge that I was entitled to a card and that she couldn't understand why it had not been sent after so many requests. I'll give you an update next month when I get my card -- or not!

Thanks for all your support and advise. -- Suzanne
