???? There is no such thing as member cash for a cruise--member cash is at DVC resorts and refers to a room at member discount, not just paying cash for a room.

If this is all true and you book at 11 months on cash, can you go on waitlist that automatically "converts" you to a points ressie exactly at 7 months as if you were first in line and dont need to call at 8AM that day? Or is it still just take your cahnces and call like the rest at 7 months with the rest of the members, and if you get it you cancel the cash ressie.

We did a combo at VB a few years back-- paid members cash discount 11 mos out (not our home resort) and then were waitlisted to get the non-weekend nights for points. We did not get mousekeeping with the members cash rate, but our weeknight points waitlist came through, so that was good.
In August, I made the big mistake of thinking I could reserve OKW through CRO on cash on a Sunday, thinking I could change it to points when MS opened up on Monday, but there was nothing available for a points ressie. They are definitely two different "bowls," as WebmasterDoc and others explained to me at the time. I had already made the DING flights ressies, so we went anyway.
We ended up with a deeply discounted OKW studio thru CRO, and got mousekeeping each day, which was fine, but I had to do some fancy maneuvering with my points, since I cancelled a ressie to book this one, and the other ressie used borrowed points.
Does this makes sense? I guess I would caution people to know what they have for points, and which "bowl" they can get, before jumping on a DING--at least when MS is closed!:)

AFAIK, there are no waitlists associated with cash rooms. Period.

Again AFAIK, there is no way to waitlist for a points room at a non-home resort prior to the 7 month window. (If there is, there shouldn't be as it would violate at least the spirit of the 11/7 month booking rules). So you have to call at 7 months to get a points room and then you could cancel the cash reservation - there is no penalty for cancelling the cash reservation.

MS reportedly will automatically convert a rack rate cash reservation to one with the member discount (if one becomes available), but members who want cash reservations must call to get the cash reservation in the first place and hope to "get lucky".

I was told by MS recently that they no longer automatically convert a cash room to a member discount room. You have to keep calling to see if one becomes available. I had to call once a week for several months to finally get mine converted.
can you do member cash for a cruise stateroom also along with points????
To do anything through MS you must book one adult on points. After that you can do any combo of points and cash as long as you take care of each individual person one way or another. You could do all on points, one adult on points and the rest cash, two adults points and kids cash or one adult plus child points and the second adult cash. The other requirement is that you must pay for 2 adults in the cabin so one adult and one child would be charged as 2 adults.
