I agree with you Doc but the key is that it could be done. As to paying for an on line system, I truly believe that it would save money in the long run.

As to the point of no profit for the management of the timeshare. While this may be true, I think Disney's ability to shift part of the cost of things at it's resorts to DVC (like SAB) and (what about upkeep of the actual Boardwalk itself) members has to be a gold mine for Disney.

Perhaps an on-line system could pay for itself at some point in time, but it will still require the development costs to be paid while the current system is still being used- as well as increased staff to handle the problems associated with educating the membership to use it. While the 500-1000 members who frequent this site may be eager for online capability, the other 82,000+ members may not have the same desire or intent. The system will require a custom program tailored to the details of DVC and unless DVC has a significant number of members asking for and willing to use this change, it may not save ANY money now or in the future if most members still use the phones.

As for the proposal that Disney and DVC are collaborating to cheat DVC members thru cost-shifting ... Those costs will still appear as line items and will have to pass an audit. The Boardwalk- and everything on it are NOT part of the BWI/BWV- I'd sure like to see what information you have to suggest that DVC has accepted any responsibility for the upkeep on that as it certainly doesn't appear in any of the accounting reports or POS that I'm aware of.

It seems that you're suggesting that Disney and DVC are doing something illegal and it might be wise to have some data to back up that thought before spreading the rumor on the internet.

Okay now we are getting somewhere. Hey Doc where can we snailmail or email our concerns?

Where do they do these surveys?

DVC's email is:

members@disneyvacationclub.com

Address is:

Disney Vacation Club
200 Celebration Place
Celebration, FL 64747

The surveys are done in numerous ways. Some are done by CMs at the DVC resorts, many are sent to "selected" members after a recent stay, some are invited- by postcard- to take an online survey, some are accomplished by sending special surveys to a representative number of members and some are done by focus groups (and have been reported on this forum several times in recent months).

I wasn't suggesting illegal activity or that DVC members are being cheated. As we know here, written words can often convey a meaning to people that is not meant to be there. If my words were taken to mean that, I am truly sorry. That is not what I meant. I was trying to point out (obviously poorly) that we as membes are paying for what we get. For example SAB? I have no problem with my dues at the BCV going toward SAB (I am assuming that they do because SAB is mentioned in the public offering satement). If they do, it's an example of excellent strategy by Disney of incorportating DVC into something that is currently operating. That is far from doing anything illegal. Obviously the Boardwalk was a poor example and I should have put a question mark after it because I didn't know what you explained.

As to an online system for MS. Yes there would be start up cost but the end result will be positive. Rumor is that they are working on this for the web site already so it will be with us eventually. Some of us would just rather see it sooner than later. On line banking was no where only a few years ago. Now companies who make paper checks are in trouble because of the growth of online systems. An online DVC system would help save money in the long run. Think of all of the other reservation or banking systems that have gone to online methods, including Disney.
