Member Services Question

Hi All. Hope you can shed some light on this subject. I'm a renter who has been given the number to member services by the DVC owner to make requests to a confirmed reservation. I phoned this morning and MS won't talk to me at all. Do I have to do everything, like arrange for ME and DDP, through the DVC member? I don't want to turn this into a discussion about whether or not its' right that the DVC member gave me the number to make my own arrangements, however, I am looking for information from those of you who have some experience with this.

They will not do anything for you the person you rented from needs to set up Magic express and the dinning plan for you

I am renting points, and I called MS myself and added on the dining plan, and the arrangements for the ME. I had the reservation number, and that was all they needed once I told them the situation.

Thanks sammax. I guess, based on the other posts here, there are some grey areas with regard to this subject. Perhaps you have to get the right MS reservationist also. Did you simply explain that you were a guest of the member? This is what I did and she asked for my name, for which I have the DVC confirmation showing the reservation in my name. When I continued with my information, she cut me off and stated the member had to call.

Anyway, maybe I'll try again. Just didn't want to continually bother the people I rented from.

When I called they asked for my membership number, and I said I'm not a member, but I have a reservation in my name, and would she like the reservation number. She took that, and I added the dining plan, and made the arrangements for the ME with my flight times etc. Maybe you didn't come across the right person!!

Anyway, maybe I'll try again. Just didn't want to continually bother the people I rented from.

Yes, try again. Explain you are a renter and offer your name and the reservation number.

I offer to make these arrangements for the families who rent our points but mention that MS has in the past allowed renters/guests/friends/family to make these arrangements for themselves. If for some reason this practice has changed the owner will be able to make the arrangements for you and you shouldn't feel as though you are bothering them.
