I called DVC member services to see if they could give me my member number over the phone I knew this was a slim chance but wanted to give it a shot. They told me I would need to call my closing company because they have not received any of the necessary papers form them yet. I called the closing company and they told me that they have sent the information and then they went on to basically make me feel like a five year old I hung up and felt like I needed to go stand in the corner. But my question is who do I listen to its been almost 2 weeks since my deed was recorded should I just wait should I call member services back? TIA

Things can get messed up by either party. Closing co. thinks they sent it. DVC has misplaced. DVC has it sitting in a stack to be processed (I doubt a little bit that they actually looked for you and just told you they didn't have it since it's not entered yet). I think what I would do is call the closing company and just request that they resend the information or contact DVC about it. If they have detailed records about when it was sent they can walk thru it with DVC to try and locate. The closing company is being paid by you or the seller to handle the transaction and should work with you.

DVC doesn't seem to be processing very quickly in the past year or two and from reports 2 weeks may be a bit quick to expect it.

What option did you select wham you called? How long has it been; what is "almost two weeks?"

You should wait about 10 days after recording to start calling. You need to select option 3 for Member Accounting. That's the only group that will look up your new member number. If they say they haven't received the paperwork yet, it might still be in the mail, or it could be on their to-do pile. Just hang up and call back tomorrow.

Calling you closing company won't help much. All they could tell you is that they mailed the paperwork.

Its been 12 days. I selected member accounting when I called but they transferred me somewhere not sure why.

I think Member Accounting was closed two days this week. Can't remember whether the 16 & 17 or 17 & 18. Could explain why you were transferred and maybe even why they couldn't find your documents. They're preparing annual dues statements to be sent out.

That makes sense thank you!
