this afternoon about our upcoming stay at VGF to ask if I had any questions and told me about DVC events going on during our stay. They also gave me a number to call so I wouldn't have to call the normal member number. It was a very nice 'welcome home' and glad you are members talk:goodvibes.
I had to send my dd for paper/pen and she said since we also have a stay at AKL coming up she would go through some DVC offerings there too, like Sunrise Safari, but I think she was mostly calling because of the VGF stay. Does everyone that stays here get a pre trip call? or is it because of the long phone waits when calling member services I wonder?

She mentioned a Senses Spa members day on Tuesday's and a members fireworks cruise with wine and sparkling cider for kids from CR for $79pp. Anyone go to either of these and how were they?

I got a call before my VGF stay last month but it was during the day and I was at work so I missed it. She just said to call if I needed anything.

I don't think it's because of the long waits, it might actually be causing the long waits if they are taking people off the incoming calls line to make these calls.
 
Haven't done either the cruise or the Spa but I'd be really interested in the cruise - did she say how to reserve: online or only MS?
 
We got the call as well about a week ago about our upcoming VGF stay. She asked if we wanted to book the dining plan, if we knew about the DVC member specials (fireworks cruise, etc.)

Are they just calling VGF guests or everyone?
 

We also got the same call regarding our upcoming AKV stay. When I realized it was MS I got nervous thinking something was wrong with my res but it turned out to be the as you describe above.
 
DVC has decided to call members prior to their vacation to let them know about the pay for extras like bowling and fishing, which is called Member Magic.

I suspect that the agreements with the different venues and groups require a minimum participation and they are trying to drum up business.

I would rather see them use the CM's to answer MS phone calls to lower the hold time.

We also received the same phone call (on April 7)prior to our stay at BC/BWV (May 16-20). They are calling it "Membership Magic" and is basically a pre-arrival service to discuss new perks,discounts, and to see if we needed anything. I also received a special phone # to call if needed.

However, the CM (Trey) was able to get us a Be Our Guest reservation for the Saturday night of our stay. It worked out perfectly as that was our MK day! We were visiting our DD, who is a CM on the College Program and that was where she wanted to have dinner!

I wonder if this is in preparation for a VIP roll out. Make the members wait on hold longer, then offer a VIP, no wait phone number if you own 500 points or pay a VIP member fee?
