Why do they have to ask for your address EVERY time? I'm getting annoyed by that. I got transferred twice in one call and had to give my address THREE times!

That's the price you pay for telephone access to an asset of value. I used to think DVC was a big heavy-handed until I had to call my broker to get some money out (instead of putting it in :; ). I almost had to email a blood sample.

The alternative is either blind trust that you are who you say you are, or having DVC issue a password - which you know 90% of people would forget and cause a 10% increase in MS calls for 'password' issues :rotfl2:

It will be nice when (if :( ) we can do a lot of basic operations online....

I HATE having to read off my entire address every freakin time I call. Can't they ask for something shorter?

Maybe the address is the only security feature they have from strangers getting personal information?

I don't think they track how often you call. So from a business standpoint, by always asking for your address, they are verifying all marketing material, all dues material, all financing information, etc. I did customer service/credit for GE Capital, and it was always standard procedure to verify the address, telephone numbers and social security numbers on all accounts, BUT, we did document when we spoke to someone, so if the customer stated their street address, I would finish with and thats still in XXX, XX with a zip of XXXXX, that way they weren't repeating everything.

I'm glad they are doing what they can to verify - especially since I just read on CNN Money that hackers were empyting online accounts.
Hackers Emptying Online Accounts

I suppose the risk to us as DVC members is minimized though as the confirmations are always sent to the owner. Wonder how hard it would be to change someone's DVC address? I've read that identity thieves do that to prevent the owner from catching on too quickly.

Anyway, I'm not so sure I'd mind sending my broker a "blood sample" if it meant no one but me could get at my money, LOL! (just kidding)

Best wishes -

You can't be too careful these days. Our daughter just had her bank accounts emptied out a few months ago through fraud, so I don't mind Disney verifying our information.

I'm sure it's not really a security issue, no reason to do that much for security. I bet they're simply updating their database and taking your call as an opportunity to do so. Many companies do this including Interval International, USAA, CC companies and about anyone else I call. More and more they're asking for email.
