Hi,
We are hoping to spend a week in Palm Springs California and a week in Vegas in June 2005. Anyone recommend any of the Member Getaways resorts.?

Thanks.

Mick.

For Palm Springs/Palm Desert, the Marriott's will be your top choice. From what I know, the others will be good but not necessarily great choices. All the rest will be below DVC's level in one way or another. I would not do a timeshare for Vegas and if I did, it would be the Hilton there which is not on the DVC exchange list and not even in II.

Hi Dean,
Thanks for your reply. I like the look of the Marriot resorts in Plalm Desert but was wondering if the location was a bit "out of the Way".? Any ideas.?
Why would you not recommend any of the Vegas properties..?

Sorry, don't know the lay of the land enough to help you with that. Go to TUG at www.tug2.net (BBS is free) and ask the question further. You may also post on TUG (if you join) for a direct exchange which would open up other properties and possibly cheaper trades. The reason I wouldn't recommend a timeshare for Vegal are several. None are truly on the Strip other than the Hilton. Hotel rooms and food are very to relatively cheap there. There are really no really good timeshares, period. Vegas is the only place with more than a couple of timeshares I can say that about, at least that I know enough to sound intelligent.

Would second Dean's recommendation to check out the Tug (http://www.tug2.net) recommendations for the Marriott resort in Palm Desert. If you're not a member, I would encourage you to join....it's well worth it; for this and just to have access to great information. I carefully read the reviews of this resort about a month ago, and completed an exchange with the Marriott Palm Desert Villas II. We are going end of Feb-first wk of March 2005. I felt very confident after reading the ratings for the different resorts.

Hi,
Just read your post. I called Member Services when we wanted to go to Las Vegas and they booked me into The Jockey Club. It does not have a Casino on property, but it is on the Strip between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo, and directly across the street from Alladin and Paris. It was very comfortable and clean. We were so impressed, we actually have been back twice. I would recommend the Jockey Club, but I would be cautious about some of the other offerings.

The jockey club is no longer on the list, apparently due to lower than acceptable ratings.
