What makes it special other than it being DVC members only?
Is it cheaper?
Have they announced a 2014 one?
From what I heard they give you a lot of gifts , and they usually have special guest like movies creators and stuff .

DVC produced a video earlier this year on the Member Cruise Experience...

This might give you an idea of what it is like.
We do one every three or four years. Although they are expensive, They are fun. You can hear our opinions on the video as we got to participate. We will usually pay with points for one person and cash for the other, so that it does not wipe out a huge chunk of our points. Also the $95 fee is waived for these cruises and standard gratuities are included so when you take those two expenses into account, the price is not as bad.
The most important thing on these cruises is to bring at least one large suitcase extra. I cannot stress this enough, you will get enough gifts to easily fill a large bag.
For those who aren't aware, the Member Cruise is actually a "Direct Member" Cruise. If you don't own at least one contract purchased directly from Disney, you cannot sign up for a Member Cruise even if you intend to pay cash and not pay with points.
We were thinking about doing this cruise with my parents, brothers family and sisters family next year. We have bought directly and resale from Disney. My parents bought two resale contracts years ago and put my brothers and sisters name on each contract along with theirs. So, my parents could not book a DVC Member cruise since they bought resale about 7-8 years ago? How many rooms could I book? I have 6 in my immediate family if that makes a difference. Thanks!
Thanks for clarifying this!If your parents bought resale 7-8 years ago, they can book a MC. The restriction is more recent than that.
I would love to go on a MC sometime. It sound like it would be a fun experience with like minded folks.![]()
Thanks for clarifying this!
I should have said: If you own only resale contracts, all of which were purchased after March 2011 (I think the cutoff date is March 20, 2011), you cannot book the Member Cruise.
Yes, but you would not be able to use your resale points to pay for the cruise. Thanks for anticipating my question. Now I have another one. We have our points through a resale contract. If I buy a small package say like 25 or 50 points direct, would that make us eligible for a member cruise?
Yes, but you would not be able to use your resale points to pay for the cruise.
