I read that it sells out quickly. Why is it so special? Is there a huge discount or special activities? If so what?

The Member Cruise is a charter of DCL by the Disney Vacation Club. As such they are able to do some special things like change shows, itineraries etc. Here's a brief recap of what has made each one so special (at least IMHO)

2003 - itinerary was Castway Cay, Nassau, Castaway Cay. Special guest performer was Andrea McCardle and her family. Special guests included one of the Disney imagineers who helped outfit the ship. He gave a ships tour and told us all kinds of fascination stories about how things were done.

2005 - itinerary was Key West, day at sea, Castaway Cay. Special performer was Susan Egan who gave an awesome show including singing live to a clip from Hercules (she voiced Meg). Special guests included Don "Ducky" Williams, the 2005 Walt Disney World Ambassador, Art Linkletter, and Chef Gordan.

2006 - itinerary was Castaway Cay, day at sea, Castaway Cay (my idea of a perfect cruise). Special performers were Jennifer Hudson and Jodi Benson. Special guests included Roy Disney, the 2006 Walt Disney World Ambassador, and a few others whose names escape me at the moment.

2007 - itinerary was Castaway Cay, day at sea, Castaway Cay. Special performers were Andrea McCardle, Eden Espinosa and Sarah Litzsinger one night with a special concert by Richard Sherman of the Sherman brothers on another night.

Mr. Sherman was one of the Disney legends we sailed with. The others included: X. Atencio (wrote the lyrics to Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirate's Life for me and worked on Fantasia). Virginia Davis (This wonderful woman was Disney's first star even before Mickey Mouse. She played Alice in the Alice comedies begining in 1923.) Marty Sklar (He's been the only man who has been part of every Disney Them Park Opening. His title today is Ambassador for Walt Disney Imagineering.) Alice Davis (She has dressed all the dolls in It's A Small World as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean.) Dave Smith - Disney's newest legend inducted this year. The founder of the Walt Disney archives.

In addition in 2005, 2006 and 2007 the tips for the cruise were included in the cruise price (something not normally done).

All of the cruises featured special gifts each night as well. Some pins, pictures, and other trinkets. I wouldn't cruise just for the gifts but they are fun to get.

I hope this gives you a taste of what makes a DVC Member Cruise special.

Thanks!! I'll have to show this to DH!
