Member cards for associates?

Quick question: I am an associate because I share a pile of points with my extended family -- and only one person could actually be listed as "buyer." But we share the points and our guide has known that for years. The only bummer is that I put in funds for my "share" of the points and I didn't get a member card. Can associates ever get member cards? Anyone out there ever done it? How about getting a copy of Vacation Magic sent to my home? C'est possible?

Thanks to all who take the time to answer . . .

Normally, only those on the deed will receive the "official" documents - like membership cards, dues statements, annual meeting annoucements and Vacation Magic. It can't hurt to call MS and ask, but don't be surprised if the answer is no.

Good luck!

Thanks, Doc!

If you are right, I would strongly advise anyone on the boards against being an associate. You do NOT get your money's worth . . .

Not true, it is a deed, just like a house, it can have more than one owner. You could have been listed on the deed as an owner...but if it was financed, you'd also have to be on the loan.

You can have multiple people on the deed. And you could modify the deed to add your name for a very modest cost.

Huh. My guide didn't mention that possibility. In fact, I'm an attorney (albeit obviously not a real estate expert!) and I didn't think of it either. Good points all around. Thank you, people! I really appreciate it.

When I first bought, I didn't either. The attorney I dealt with just put it in my name only and by the time I thought to ask about it, it was too late. He agreed to change it if I paid all the fees all over again. Every time I think about it I want to give him some free advertising. I almost did and still wish I had reported him to the Bar.

I added my wife as an associate and it wasn't a big deal other than to her. Interesting that when we added a new contract, we put it in both our names. Note this was the same resort but a different use year so this did not become part of the original ownership. Even still, once she was a member, they sent her a membership card on the original contract as well as the new one. I still haven't figured that one out.
