Member at SSR wanting to go to OKW

It is my first trip down to WDW as a DVC member and I know I can book my trip 11 months in advance for my home resort but I'd rather go to OKW in December 2005. That means I can't book it until May. Is that cutting it close? Should I book SSR now just in case and change my reservation to OKW in May?

yes, i would book SSR and then in may try to book OKW. you should not have any problem changing. good luck!

I wouldn't bother booking SSR--especially if it will keep you from banking points or force you to borrow. OKW's point charts are lower, so if you were to book at SSR, you would have some surplus left over when you move the reservation over to OKW.

There is no way that OKW will be booked solid for May seven months before the check-in date.

... but ... it IS entirely possible that OKW could be booked solid for December when the OP wants to go there. I would reserve at SSR- so you know you will have a room- and then switch to OKW in May when your 7 month window opens.

In all likelyhood, there will still be availability at OKW (and at SSR) for a December trip within 7 months, but why take a chance of not getting a room someplace for your desired dates.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I saw May and thought the question was regarding a May check-in.

If booking at SSR is going to involve any borrowing of points, I would still wait. There's no way that OKW will be booked solid at 7 mos, IMO.
