Is anyone else annoyed, like me, that the billing department makes us FAX our bank information to them for monthly billing?! I couldn't believe they actually told me this today. I don't even have a fax anymore - I scan everything. So frustrating! This is Disney for heaven sakes!

That's right - this is Disney. Behind the times when it comes to IT.

Last I heard, MS is still using a computer from the 1990's.

Why don't you just put that monthly amount away every month and pay at end of year? Much less hassle! That's crazy that they make you do that!

What you don't realize is that ability to use a fax machine rather than having to mail the documents to MS itself took Disney until about 2005 to adopt. Undoubtedly, Disney will adopt the email with attachment method about the time that method becomes ancient history

email is not secure.
Sending any bank information to anyone over email is a bad idea.

Pay with a credit card and earn some cash back. You earn nothing by paying with a bank account.

There are some online to fax services like gotfreefax but I haven't used any of them since my old ZDNet free email that used to include a free email to fax service.

(I still have an old laptop with a phone modem if I ever need to scan to fax)

It sounds like they are setting up monthly payments for this year. DVC needs the bank information for the withdrawl. Many companies want a voided check to setup automatic withdrawls.

Oh I totally misunderstood! I thought you had to fax them the banking information to verify it every month :rotfl2:

Oh well I did learn something though. I didn't know disney allowed you to charge monthly maintenance fees. I do that with my wyndham timeshare.

I usually paid my maintenance fees all at once in January. This time I decided to pay monthly. I faxed in my check along with a cover letter asking to switch to monthly withdrawals. After two weeks I checked and Member Accounting claimed they did not receive anything.

We were staying at DVC at the time and the front desk at VWL faxed in the check and cover letter again and I received a confirmation for the transmission along with a copy of what was sent.

I checked with Member Accounting and they again said they did not receive it. I asked to see Member Accounting in person so I could put the check in their hand. I was told to go out to the DVC location in Celebration.

When I got their the Security Guard at the front desk told me I wasn't allowed in the lobby and I would be arrested if I did not leave. I explained that I was told to come their by Member Accounting, name withheld, and showed her the phone log on my cell phone to confirm the number was from Member Accounting. I again was threaten with arrest. I told the guard to go ahead and call the police. I figured the lawsuit would buy me lots more DVC points. The guard called Member Accounting who confirmed my story. Name withheld...from Member Accounting came down to talk to me after 30 minutes later with both previous faxes in her hand.

Now that is SERVICE!!!

You can only charge the full annual amount. They don't allow you to charge monthly.

Correct. Never want to send personal info on e-mail i.e. social, credit card info, bank account info.

Totally agree! Email is NOT SECURE! I would never, ever send any personal financial info via email. Even if the recipient deletes it, it will be stored in many places FOREVER!!!

This is not an IT issue. It's a VERY GOOD POLICY that is in our best interests.

I feel for the person that was threatened with arrest when you visited the DVC offices. I just joined Disney Vacation Club and the void check I gave to the salesperson for my auto payments got lost, so the accounting dept told me I had to fax another one to them. Since I don't have a fax, but live in town, they told me to stop by the Preview Center at Saratoga and leave it with them or fax from there. I drove all the way over there only to find out they won't do that for members! What a hassle! Why can't we just do this ourselves on the website like every other business in the world? There's lots of bells and whistles in sales, but then you're held hostage to the archaic follow up process.:sad1:

This really bugs me, Disney and DVC says that they value it's members and that we are family, is this the way that they treat their family?

Actions speak louder than words, I really wish that they would do what's right and take care of business instead of offering more stuff to buy like member cruses, bowling parities, and fireworks cruises.

Is this a new thing? My dues are charged monthly to my AMEX. Have been for almost 3 years.
How did you manage that? Normally to pay dues monthly they require direct debit from a US bank account.

I'd love to learn how you managed that, too. It's always been a policy that you can pay off the full amount due using a credit card, but you can only set up automatic monthly payments using a bank draft.

I'd love to get rewards points for my dues, but don't want to have to pay the full amount off at one time.

I think I must have hit my head. We do monthly via a check/direct withdrawal. For some reason I thought I had been seeing the charge on my Amex statement but I'm confusing that and my online bank ledger. Sorry for the confusion, I was dead wrong!
