Mel's Unflashy June 2008 TR: Funnel cakes have fewer calories in FL. Updated 12/2!!

Then it will take Janet.. Oh.. 6 months or so :rotfl2:

Me.. about 10 years:rotfl:

Hey:headache:

What are you saying Katt? :headache: ;) :rotfl:

I think she is aying we talk too much:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

That gets the blood pumping and warms you up in time to step out in the tropical air. Now, in the interest of keeping this report positive (and it is, we had a great trip!). I am only going to mention once, how hot it is in Florida in June (duh!). For those of you who have never been to Florida between June and October, it’s hot. I’m talking sauna hot. Geckos stuck to the sidewalk hot. So hot, your clothes are bonded to you after 5 min. In fact, if you are a morning showerer, don’t bother. Just wait until the constant perspiration cleanses your body and then shower in the evening----you are going to need one anyway. And leave the poncho at home because you will be wetter at 3pm than you could ever be from the rain.

So what you are saying is that you are looking forward to August:confused3 ;)

the way I do Disney vacations is to let my Spouse plan every second of the trip and I just kind of wander along in a fog. This is MY vacation, not having to plan anything or worry about anything. I make sure we get there and home, and my lovely wife takes care of the rest.

So what you are saying here is that Mel can spend MORE time on the Dis:confused3
So, I suggested that rather than take the mono directly to MK, we would stop at the Grand Floridian and take the path.

There's a path?

For those of you thinking, “there’s a path?” there isn’t. Well, there IS, but it is one of the few paths to nowhere that I’ve discovered at Disney (yes, I’ve discovered them all).

Doh:headache:

(we, as regular visitors to Disney, are NOT tourists ;-)

:thumbsup2

Thank God Mel wasn’t there or her ordered brain would have had a meltdown.

Mine did just reading this so I completely understand! ::yes::

Well that’s it; my first trip report segment. Hope you enjoyed it and excuse the grammar (13 years living outside of New England has taken its toll). If you found it informative and remotely entertaining, I just might find the time to tell you about parasailing and the Segway tour (you’ve GOT to do one of these).

Loved this whole installment. Can't wait to meet you in August:banana:

Great job, Bob!! (on your writing ;) - not sure about the whole short cut thing but have to give you a :thumbsup2 for trying).

I think you and Mel should put your writing skills to writing a book! I've been trying to put together a book about trip reports for 2 years now and still haven't got it published lol Care to donate a few words for my cause? :worship:

Now I'm truly glued to this TR - will it be Bob or Mel writing next?

Great job, Bob!

Those poor people! They obviously were never introduced to the DIS. I'm glad you bumped into them and got them at least started in the right direction. I can just see them talking to freinds and family saying, 'What's the big deal about WDW, we thought it was pretty boring. Nothing but big hotels and parking lots.':lmao:

Great update, Bob! Glad to hear good things about O'hana's breakfast since we've got an ADR there for Oct. That poor family on the monorail--wonder what they'd been doing for four days? I guess riding 'round and 'round on the monorail eating peanut butter sandwiches! :lmao:

OK, I really need to get AP it sounds wonderful.

How does the bus driver go to the wrong resort? Another reason I like using a car;)

Didn't any CM's come around to clean the chunks?:scared:
Yes, AP was Awesome! I'm not sure, but I can tell you that on *two* separate occasions, our bus driver got out of his seat and walked OFF the bus to look up at the sign that says where the bus is going! Two different bus drivers!!! So, maybe they drive different routes (like, he leaves from MK and goes to the swan, dolphin and bwv, then mk. but then he returns to a different resort and starts over...?) I don't know!?
A CM came to clean it up just as we were leaving!

OK, I thought I was crazy becasue I was thinking...what the heck is she talking about:confused: DOn't confuse an old person, it's not nice:snooty:
Sorry old lady!

WOOOO HOOOOOTY!!!!!

Eh. Hit him up with a highball of Glenfiddich and he'll be alright! ;) Kidding Bob - feel better!
Poor Bob! No Glenfiddich for him. He's hurtin'. I did give him 2 icy Coronas last nigh and some chocolate chip cookies.

-------------------

I asked Bob if he's going to respond to all your comments. He said that he doesn't think he can! :rotfl2: He said to tell you guys that he's very flattered. That he enjoyed typing up the Ohana one and he's definitely going to do one on the Segway tour. But, he said to add this: "I won't be held to any timetable. Genius can't be rushed!"
Bwhaahahahahaha! Ok, Bob! Anyway, thanks for the compliments. Bob's a smart guy. I love to read his writing! You guys will love him in August.
Everyone does...:sad2: Hopefully he'll type the segway tr before then.....

MEL:banana:

Okay, first hings first...

Bob?

WELL DONE! I was literally LOL! Okay, not literally. I'm at work - have to at least pretend I'm professional-like. But if I wasn't at work, I'd have literally been LOL. :thumbsup2

::yes:: Ye-ep.
However, when your vacation is over, unless you are heading for southeast Asia,
Or. The west coast of Florida.
I can assure you that the weather will be cooler where you live.
D'OH!! :headache:

In this case, we had the pink one, which I refer to as Blaine. If you know why, then I want you to think about that the next time you ride.....If you don’t, then I can’t explain it in the scope of this report (ask me at FockerFest).
For some reason, I keep thinking it involves a pink oxford shirt and a movie... am I even remotely close? :confused3

I talked SD into walking the path over to the MK, for something different to do. On a previous visit, Mel and I snuck off one night to dinner at the GF and then went to the MK. It was dark (alcohol MAY have been a factor) and from the monorail, we could see a lighted path between the Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian. I said something like, “It must go all the way back to the GF, or why would Disney build it?” Why indeed. Folks, this remains one of the mysteries of Disney. I’m sure there is a reason, but I can assure you that the path does NOT go all the way back to the GF.
OMG, my ex and I did the EXACT same thing many years ago! :rotfl2: It is, indeed, a road to nowhere. And by the end of it, we were ANNOYED and not at all lover-ly. :sad2:

That he enjoyed typing up the Ohana one and he's definitely going to do one on the Segway tour.
Yay! :cheer2:
But, he said to add this: "I won't be held to any timetable. Genius can't be rushed!" :
:rotfl: :thumbsup2

Excellent installment, Bob! Those poor tourists - I get frustrated when I hear people saying things like that at WDW - how did you spend alllll this money and then not know ANYTHING about where you're going? But then again my DBF teases me because I like planning the trip so much that when we actually leave for it I am disappointed because it's almost over...

Anyway, great work, Bob! :thumbsup2

Bob's update is almost done. Despite his crippling pain, he's pluggin on ahead!

What a trooper!

You ip dip you :rotfl2:

OK, I've read it before and I have to ask. What is an ip dip?

So, as Mel has written, they slipped out at o’ dark hundred, bound for the trains.

Great job Bob! You have me convinced to eat breakfast at Ohana! You need your own username to avoid confusion though. How about MrMuffin or MuffinyBob or something like that? ;) I'm so gonna guilt my husband into writing something next time! :rotfl:

I'm not sure, but I can tell you that on *two* separate occasions, our bus driver got out of his seat and walked OFF the bus to look up at the sign that says where the bus is going! Two different bus drivers!!!

OMG! I can't believe that the bus drivers did that! You would think they would know where they were going or something.

Can't wait to hear Bob's Segway Report.popcorn::

OK, I've read it before and I have to ask. What is an ip dip?

"Ip Dip" comes from Buzz and Linnie (MontanaDisneyFan). Buzz's TR "The Man Report" is currently unavailable since Buzz is on global ignore on the DIS. But, it's a great report. If you'd like to read it, send me a PM and I can tell you where to access it.

The term itself refers to someone who has done something pretty stupid, such as attempting to walk down a path that doesn't go anywhere (sorry Bob!).

I agree. Bob needs his own username. I vote for "MuffinyBob"!

OMG! I can't believe that the bus drivers did that! You would think they would know where they were going or something.

I think the destination changes depending on demand. So, even though a bus comes in from AKL to the MK, it may not necessarily head back to AKL after it drops off it's passengers. But you would think there would be some way of telling what the sign says without going outside! :confused3

Bob, great update! Wow, those people were clueless! I don't think that I was that clueless on my first trip. I know that I had a guide book and my friends that I went with had been to WDW once before but that was when they were kids and there was only MK. Of course, we were in our low 20's so we didn't mind criss-crossing MK and/or EPCOT multiple times in a day. :hyper:

That's interesting. I think now I'm more intrigued by someone being on global ignore than what an ip dip is. :rotfl:

Hello everyone! Bob is resting comfortably on the couch with a cocktail. He's bringing me to the eye dr. tomorrow. He's really enjoying all your comments. He said that you "seem like my kind of people." Ha! I guess he means people who plan their WDW trips like a mechanized squadron of the most elite military operatives during a campaign requiring swift and precise tacitcal missions....

Yeah. That's us.

Anyhoo. Forgive Bob (and I) for not replying individually to your comments on his post. He (and I) DO appreciate your reading along! He's generally not that cooperative (ha, sorry Bob) and I'm stressed out about the eye thing...
So, back to our regularly scheduled trippie as soon as I can *see* the computer again! We will pick up on Day Two at Disney...the day we see The Angriest Man in Disney again....

MEL:banana:

Take care of yourself first Mel. Lord knows we have lots of threads to keep us busy while we patiently wait for you to feel comfortable at the computer.

I was going to mention too that the doctor gave DH vicodin after his procedure also. Anytime I have something done (wisdom teeth and such) I specifically ask for vicodin because tylenol 3 gives me the most terrible nightmares and I don't ever feel like I get any sleep.

Hey Mel!! Great update! you 2 had a great dinner and date night at Artists point! I would love to try that place,,maybe in May! I remember you mentioning the date nite in your PTR and leaving the boys at the MK,,We knew they would do great!! :woohoo: I love taking the boats at Disney! It adds a certain somthing!
I just poured my 2nd mango margarita, thinking of you:love: never had them before tonite,,yummy! off to read Hubbys version:surfweb: ...hope hes feeling better...

. If you'd like to read it, send me a PM and I can tell you where to access it.
Which reminds me! Mel "you know who" is not at Scotts site! so sign up over there!

We do that ALOT at Animal Kingdom! :headache:

I agree. Bob needs his own username. I vote for "MuffinyBob"!
I love this idea!! except maybe without the "y" like "muffinbob" :thumbsup2

Finally done with Bobs Version of his day! (or morning!) the kids kept interrupting and the new Basset Hound peed on the floor of their attic bedroom...so I think I read it twice!
Bob, your a great storyteller! I agree about the tourists on the mono rail! :sad2: I also agree that we are not tourists! although I`ve only been 3 times does that still count as being a "non tourist" ? Oh!!! I used to live in FL 20 years ago (i was 20) do I still count as a non tourist? :lmao: I hope to hear much more from you! and Mel and I have a meet planned for next summer when shes visiting her family!!
