Mel's Pre-trip Report: Interactive Version

Come on Mel....
Where are we going today ????:confused3 :confused3
Do I have to start singing on this thread too ??? :cool1: :cool1: :lmao:

Because this is our drive to VERO BEACH RESORT!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo Hoo! I am soooo excited to go there. First, I've never been on a beach on the East Coast that wasn't in New England. I've never been in salt water that WASN'T 48 degrees! Ha! :rotfl2:
Wooo hooo!! This sounds like FUN! I haven't been to Vero, either. Pretty much every beach on both FL coasts south of Tampa, but never north.
Has anyone been to Jellyrolls?
Yep, years ago! It was a lot of fun. I don't remember much... what's THAT tell ya?! :rolleyes1

V has been here....not today though. I'm sure she' can confirm this.:thumbsup2
I'd guess a lot closer to 1.5 - 2 hours. It's a solid 4 form my house on the Gulf Coast to the East coast on I-4 and about 1.75-2 from my house to WDW. Also, will this be on a weekday? If so, count on rush hour traffic; I-4 comes to a dead-halt between WDW and downtown Orlando.

Maybe, maybe not :snooty: ;) :rotfl2: Please...? :worship:

BTW did you see where I said about bad backs at BB? And don't worry about losing your swimsuit, that would only happen on the big slides!
Yep. Noted. I won't ride the BIG ones!

Wooo hooo!! This sounds like FUN! I haven't been to Vero, either. Pretty much every beach on both FL coasts south of Tampa, but never north. That's weird, V! ;)

CARP. I hate long car rides to the beach! But, since it's to a DISNEY beach, I'll be ok! :thumbsup2

::yes:: We are renting points again...UNLESS...and ssssshhhh...this is a secret...imaybebuyingahomeawayfromhomeverysoon! :scared1: I'm shushed! :ssst: But. YAY! (said very Quietly)
PM me your dates and maybe we can meet up for LAPUS!!!!

Anywho...our plan is AKV...just Jon and I so far! We are at SSR for Xmas....

I have missed all of you too! ;) :flower3:
I missed you! :woohoo:

MEL:banana:

OH, and KATT: I'm doing it, I'm doing it. Keep your knickers on!

Day Five! The a.m. part...........

Hey everyone! I'm doing Day Five in parts. There is alot of content in this day because *WHOO HOO* it's a PARK DAY! Our first! (really, cuz the MK day doesn't count since it was in bits and pieces....)

Hopefully, I won't suffer any memory loss from the night before at Jellyrolls (:rotfl: V) and will be able to LEAP gracefully from my King-sized bed at 7 a.m. I will start the coffee while DH is showering and wake up the boys. If Gus is still sleepy, I will encourage him to go lay in my bedroom. This is the only glitch that I can see to our trip. They will be on the sleeper sofa and thus in the "living area" when we need to get up. Oh well, next year we'll get a two bedroom! :thumbsup2

The DH and Goofy have to be at Epcot for 8:10 a.m. PROMPT!! They are going early to do something I have wanted to do for a long time! They are doing the Epcot Around the World on the Segway Tour! LUCKY!!! You have to be 16 yrs old (well, :ssst: cuz he's actually going to be 2 months shy....) and under 250 lbs. Ok, got those covered! They are (pretty much) the right age, and DH is 6'5" but NOT 250 lbs.! Thank goodness! The class starts with an hour of instuction, then they get to ride all around Epcot and the World Showcase till around 11 a.m. I think they will have a GREAT time!

Has anyone done this? I am not feeling too guilty about the little fib on Goofy's age...it's for liabilty issues and he's driving a dang car here in MI!!! I'm sure he can operate a Segway! Oh, and he's almost 6'2" so he's tall enough!
Let me know what you guys think. I'm dying to see pics too!!

While DH and Goofy Segway AROUND THE WORLD, Gus and I will have a very leisurely breakfast at the Villa. Then take a dip in the pool. We plan on meeting the "big boys" at the park at around noon. We don't have an ADR yet....

LEMME HAVE IT! Where's your favorite Epcot eatery and why?! Food porn is appreciated! :woohoo:

Part two maybe later....it's 80 degrees here! Don't want to waste the sunshine!

MEL:banana:

I did the tour back in Oct of '06. I had a great time! There was quite a mix of ages on the tour though I don't think that there was anyone as young as Goofy. If I remember correctly, the youngest people were probably in their early 20's. I would love to do this again if I can get myself to be less "pooh-sized". :rotfl2:

Forgive me for not asking before: What can we call you? Do you have a nickname? I can call you #1 if you are uncomfortable w/ giving us a name! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear you liked it. I know that it's right up their alley too! And I laughed out loud at your "pooh sized" comment! :rotfl2: HA! I hear ya on that one! I need to be less pooh sized MYSELF!!

MEL:banana:

O.K.Mel....

Day 2 you hit MK for a short while...
Day 5 you are in Epcot

I'm just tyring to line that up with my days... Your Ticker says when you Leave for the World...

So if I am counting correct.. your MK day might be the only day we can meet up.It looks looks like we will be gone by the time you hit Epcot.

HMMMM:confused3

LEMME HAVE IT! Where's your favorite Epcot eatery and why?! Food porn is appreciated! :woohoo:

Depends. Do you want CS or TS?

CS - Mexico, best value for your $$ IMO

TS - We like LeCellier (although I haven't read the new menu) and Rose and Crown (Fish & CHips are great. Jim got a chicken stuffed with a Salmon Mousse that was outstanding). Jim really wants to try Marrakesh but we are waiting until Jimmy is a bit older. We also want to try Biergarten...which are getting to do during Fockerfest:banana:

Segway Tour ------------- Mo did one I think:confused3

Fav CS Tangerine Cafe BY FAR!!!! I swear by this place! It is awesome, and the portions are gigantic!

TS...Le Cellier. Although we have only eaten there, Marrakesh and Coral Reef as far as TS goes. The place is way crowded but the food was great!

Tera and Damian did the Segway tour and loved it. I would have biffed it immediately upon standing up. I don't think you should feel a bit bad about reinventing your kidlets age...ever so slightly. Take it out of my Jon fund. You know that one...where I have to pay adult prices for my 11-year-old who's the size of a 7-year-old. It all balances out in the end baybee. ::yes::

Waitin for more!!!

We've never eaten at Tangerine Cafe (DH isn't very adventurous), but Le Cellier was our favorite meal by a longshot in December. In fact, I had the exact filet that Kat pictured up above. It was delicious. I licked the plate clean! And I also had the creme brulee, but it was only one kind, not the dual one shown in her picture. DH had the cheese soup and really liked it. One caution... don't get the shrimp cocktail. THe shrimp were really mushy!

My nickname is Robbie. :)

The Segway Tour was the first one that I tried. Since then, I have also done the Keys to the Kingdom tour which was also great. However, it also has a minimum age.

O.K.Mel....
Day 2 you hit MK for a short while...
Day 5 you are in EpcotThis is right:thumbsup2

Ok, so what times are you going to be there that day?

Depends. Do you want CS or TS? whatever your favorite is!

DAY FIVE--------The P.M. PART!!

Hello! When I left you guys, Gus and I were coming to Epcot to meet Goofy and DH after their Segway Tour around the world. I loved your food recommendations. I think we are going to try the Tangerine Cafe! :thumbsup2 You guys know your food! The OVERWHELMING votes for Le Cellier were funny! If we were doing dinner, that would definitely be the one we'd chose...but I think we're going to try to save some $$$ and go back to our hotel that evening for dinner.

But, in the meantime, we are at Epcot. I have my OWN list of UN-skippables at Epcot! The kids don't always agree with me. I HAVE to do Soarin'. It's my favorite ride at EPCOT. The kids never miss Test Track. They love it!!! I can tell they love it because it's the only ride they are willing to wait OVER an hour to ride. We always do Ellen's Universe of Energy. Not because it's so good (though we all like it...) it's more the rest and air conditioning! :rotfl: Every single visit we ride Mission Space. And every single year we have an argument all the way to the entrance about whether we'll ride the ORANGE side or the GREEN side. I will NEVER ride the orange side EVER again. It's too violent (I mean the spinning kills me...inner ear stuff.) The kids don't want to ride the spinny side either, but they like to torture me. They are like that! :sad2:
We usually skip Spaceship Earth until it's time to go "home." I don't know why. We are weird like that. We've done Figment, Honey I shrunk the kids, Nemo, living with the land and the other things but we don't ALWAYS do them. It's more like, if it works with the schedule, the lines aren't bad, etc.

I'm with you Mel...

I do the BABY "Mission Space"
Scott rode it when there was only one option.. and liked it... but he got hot and felt a little closed in. LOVE the GREEN side.

So you say that orange should be a CODE RED??????:scared1:

I agree, I love Soarin, my brothers, not so much. :confused3

We missed Test Track and Mission:Space last year. We collected the fast passes, we just never ended up going. I am making it a mission this year to at least do Test Track. :thumbsup2

DAY FIVE......CONT.

OR, OOPS I HIT SUBMIT................

Sorry guys. Spastic Fingers! :rotfl2:

So anyway, we will do whatever rides the kiddos think sound good. Then I get to EXERT my Mom-force. That means we go to World Showcase. Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "Who doesn't want to go to the WS?" I know! Trust me! I've thought it MANY MANY times myself. They are SAD, STRANGE little men. :confused3

I love the ride in Norway. Sorry, I know some people don't. I do. It's fun. As long as you skip the movie part after and walk STRAIGHT thru that little room with the benches. :cheer2:

And the wine in Germany! Oooh. Yummy.... Wine=Gud! ::yes::

And the drums in Japan, the Voices of Liberty in America, the shopping in China, the pretzels in Germany, the chocolate filled croissants in France, the Fish and chips in UK, the Kilted GORGEOUSNESS of Off-Kilter in Canada...ooh. The mind wobbles!!! How HOW could someone NOT love this?

Well, who knows. But, they don't. But, I am paying so they HAVE to go. Or, I may be kind and let them go back to the Villa with us for dinner, and then take DH BACK back with me to the WS! ::yes::
Then we can enjoy our drinks and snacks without WHINING!

The only think I left out is that this visit to Epcot is during their summer music thingy. The night we are there the band is an Eagles cover band called Hotel California. I am looking forward to seeing them.

So, WHO votes for us leaving the kids and going back alone? ME! Who else? And what are your favorite drinks in the WS?

Do you guys agree with our choices for rides in the Future World side? What do you guys ALWAYS do? Any you skip? Why?

Looking forward to your posts!

Ha, silly Alex and Erich! :lmao:

It is alot of fun. But, save yourself the trouble of having to ride the thing 100 times before you figure out WHERE they take your DING DANG photo. It's right before the car goes up to the crash barrier. :thumbsup2
