I've never taken Megabus before. How early do you think that we have to get there before our bus leaves? There are seven of us and we would like to sit together if possible. I'm assuming that there is some sort of line??? Thank you.

Sorry but I can't be of much help. I've not taken Megabus myself but my dd used to ride it regularly. She, however, was riding alone so we never worried about the seating.

Depending upon the day, time and route the bus ranged from nearly full to nearly empty.

In our city people were just all sitting and standing around the area of the bus stop until the bus actually arrived and then they formed a very free-form line. It was not structured at all. If the bus was early almost no one got in line, if it was late everyone rushed to get in line.

Megabus always worked great for my dd - hope it does for you as well.

Since your status says Massachusetts I'm guessing you may be taking it out of South Station. I recently took megabus from Boston to NYC. At the Boston end there were ropes set up to have a line and I was surprised at how many people were already in line 30 minutes out. Coming back from NYC the bus stop is just a bunch of people waiting outside so no real organized line but people did que up. This time there were fewer people but again people were lined up 30 minutes out when we got there.

Boston-NYC (if that is your route) is pretty popular, especially on weekends/holidays. I'd definitely get there at least 30 mins prior to departure time with a group of 7. I took Megabus out of Boston South Station once and as a PP mentioned the lines there are roped off & very clear. In NYC, Megabus picks up on 33rd St at the corner of 7th Avenue (across the street from Penn Station) so its not as organized, but in my experience people do form a line.

Thanks for all of your answers. Yes, we are going out of Boston. I am just wondering what time we should leave because of the traffic and also how long the lines would be.

Megabus is a bus that goes from Boston to New York several times a time - for cheap money. I got my first seat for $2.00 round trip and then the other six tickets for $18.00 round trip. I heard about it on this site but this is my first time trying it.

Thanks so much everyone for all of your help.
