We are trying to meet with a wedding planner 18months prior to our wedding date and was wondering if anyone else has done this to ask them questions etc. My parents really want to meet with someone and find out how much its going to cost, etc.

Is it worth it to meet in person?
Will they meet with you in person this far in advance?

When you meet with them will you be able to look at costs of wedding cakes, flowers, dinners etc?

When meeting with them do they give you additional information other than what is offered on the website?

Thanks :)

You can try to meet with them 18 months in advance. Some brides have had success getting a meeting with DFTW that far in advance, others have not.

Generally, when you meet with the sales manager that far out, you talk in generalities, rather than specifics. They'll show you venues that you are interested in (if they are available for viewing) and speak with you about the general budget. They'll want to know how many people you expect, what sort of wedding you envision (formal or casual, outdoors or indoors, sit down dinner or buffet) things like that.

We did this meeting with our sales manager 10 months before our wedding. The most helpful part of this was seeing the venues in person.

Have you tried using the wishbook on the DFTW site? That should help you get a better idea as far as costs for cakes and flowers, etc.

Although we are in the uk we spoke to a sales manager at 18 months out, we are now 18 days till we get a contract and she has helped us with most things via email and phone calls. They cannot give your prices as these are not locked in till 6 months out. The wishbook gives alot of prices but I dont think its updated to the new prices yet as the magic kingdom photo shoot is still 800 on mine.

Try and see if you can meet with them but like hmgolden said some have had luck and others have not

I just made an appointment 18 months out from the projected date. I'm the brides mom and I wanted to meet with them for exactly the same reasons. My daughter would love a Disney wedding, but I want to get a really good idea of the cost before she gets her heart set on it. We have already done the wish book and gotten a baseline, but we have a laundry list of specific questions to be addressed before we can go ahead. I hope we can get more than generalities for answers. We live in the northeast, and to get the reception site you want requires booking at least a year in advance. So we need to make the decision asap. :tinker:

I called them a few weeks ago and told them I will be getting married May 2009 and will be @ disney in November this year and would like to meet with a wedding planner, they asked for my information and said a wedding planner would call me back... NO ONE DID... Does this mean they won't even talk to me until 18 months prior to the wedding??

This is the same thing that happened to us. But I gave it a couple of days and then called again. I was successful the second try. Why don't you try calling a week or so before your trip and ask to make an appointment. They have 2 appointment times; 9am and 1pm Monday through Saturday.
Good Luck!:tinker:
