I know that this subject has probably been covered many many times but I am just so worried.

We are coming over from the U.K. to get married in May 2009 and are due to pay a deposit and book the date in around a week and a half.

Heres the problem......

Everyone is staying in offsite villas and I cannot possibly meet the 25 night room minimum

I don't know what to do ?

There is a small possibility that a couple of our friends may stay for 3 weeks and not 2 as it is their anniversary the week after our wedding. So I could possibly get 7 nights towards the minimums but thats all - where on earth am I going to get the other 18 nights from???????????????????

Our friends can't even take advantage of the discount because they would not be staying over 'the wedding period' :headache: but at least their room still counts as 7 nights towards meeting the room requirements :worship:

I know people on here say "oh don't worry, You will meet your minimums" But HOW ? ?? Absoloutly no one else that is coming to our wedding is staying in a hotel :sad2:

Sorry for the long post but I just had everyone confirming their travel arrangements with me last night and now they have all booked and we are going to have to pay for rooms that are not getting used :scared:

I feel ill just thinking about it

I think a deal can be done with Disney over the minimum room requirements. Aren't you staying at Disney, that would count towards it?

Talk to your Wedding Coordinator about it - in the past they've been able to work it out for local brides and others who couldn't possibly meet the minimum.

Also, your wedding room-night period may be flexible, especially if it would mean that your friends' nights would count. We were able to include nights in our room block that were 2 weeks after the wedding.

No I'm afraid we are not.

We have hired 2 amazing villas that are 6 bedrooms each and side by side. This will allow us to have a fabulous family/friend 2 week vacation.

yes, we spoke to our coordinator Kristi and she has told us that the room our friends are using can be included in the minimums but they will not recieve any discount on the room :sad2:

But that still leaves us with 18 nights to fill and noone to use them :confused3

Well, anyone staying at Disney during that time can add their reservation numbers to your block, so you can post here or on the Resorts board and people will help you out.

Does that happen alot?

I mean, we are staying at Disney for 5 nights in November for our planning session and I was going to offer my reservation number to anyone who may need it nearer the time.

But when people ask for help are others normally forthcoming about offering their res numbers?

When I have done a search for posts like this I seem to have found alot of people asking for help but there are no replies to these posts :confused3

I think alot of this is done by pm since there is personal info involved!:flower3:

Ahh, I see.

Another question...

When we book our wedding do we have to give the names of our guests?

If yes, then what happens when someone adds their reservation number to your room block and their name does not match the guest list?

Or am I looking too deeply into this :scared:

I dont think they compare the two! My fsil made her resi under hr maiden name/ their invite is not under that name.

you do give them the list so they can send out save the dates.

Do they send the save the dates out for you or do they give them to you to send out?

I'm not a Wishes bride, but I'm pretty sure you give them the name and addresses for your guests and they send them out. Then Disney sends you notice that your Save the Dates were sent out. I also think they send you a couple extra... correct me if I'm wrong Wishes Brides!

I have a question, and I may be totally off-base. Do you have to guarantee 25 room nights? We originally thought that you had to guarantee 25 as a minimum, and more depending on your guest count. But we were told when going through the process that we could choose the amount of rooms we wanted to guarantee. Obviously the incentive to not choose a low number is to make sure your guests are definitely able to get the accommodations.

In any case, OP, just definitely be sure to select a Value as one of your resorts. That way you'll save the most money in case you do need to cover the room nights.

This is what I've heard too! I know DFTW hates the "But this OTHER bride got to do it!" line, but I know that they've worked with brides in the past to lower the number of room nights in certain circumstances where there was no way they'd fill 25 nights...

Hi Linz,

First of all, don't sweat it. You are on the Dis and we will sort it out - listen to your auntie Alex now :thumbsup2

My friend is going to Disney next May and hasn't booked anything yet. If you want to pm me with the details I'll ask her if the dates match and if they do I'm sure she would be very interested.

I also have another US friend that may be going to Disney at that time. I can always check with her too if you would like.

Just let me know :goodvibes

Auntie Alex xx

As for save the dates you send Disney your lista nd they mail them out to your guests for you and then send you a bunch of extras for anyone else you may tack on later. We've already used 3 of those. I think that's why they don't compare names cause it might be someone you added yourself after giving Disney the list.

Thankyou sooo much, this would really help if the dates did match. I'll send you a pm right now.

I never thought that I would feel stressed about planning my wedding, and here I am not even booked yet and i'm tearing my hair out :scared:

Ah well, I suppose it will all turn out right in the end eh !

Never thought of this  thid is fantastic news.

You girls have made me feel more optimistic, thanks :thumbsup2

Do rooms need to be booked directly with Disney to meet minimum room nights? Or can you book them as part of a package with an outside travel agent or tour operator?

Also, if somebody was staying for 2 nights near to your ceremony be counted?

Thanks guys!

Hello Linz,

I have read a few of your posts here and they always catch my eye because I too am getting married next May. It seems from your descriptions that your wedding date is SO close to the date we picked. I was just curious what day you guys had in mind, we may very well be getting married at the same time!!! We picked May 29th as our first choice and May 28th as our second. I'm really excited for our wedding next year. We will find out in about a week and a half if we get our date!

As far as your room night requirements, there are PLENTY of great people here who travel to Disney all the time and they are always ready and willing to give you their ressie numbers to help fill room night requirements, so even if you dont have enough of your own guests filling the requirements, I'm sure you'll find all the help you need on here!!! Good luck!:goodvibes :goodvibes and happy planning!

Don't you only have to guarantee 25 room nights if you want the free room night for bride and groom the night of the wedding?
