meeting minimum room requirements

I believe GlobalDiva is right. When i was talking to the wedding consultant he told me I really only have to have 10 nights covered. You only have to have 25 nights to get the free night for the bride and groom. Since most of my family lives in FL I don't think that they will be staying the night at the resort. I was very nervous.

Do rooms need to be booked directly with Disney to meet minimum room nights? Or can you book them as part of a package with an outside travel agent or tour operator?

Also, if somebody was staying for 2 nights near to your ceremony be counted?

Thanks guys!

You can book them however you want - you just have to call the group reservations number they give you and tell them the reservation number so they can add it. Also, stays that are on either side of your wedding count too. We were able to block rooms 10 days after the wedding so we could use our discount.

I know that Disney is flexible with the room requirement. I was planning a Disney wedding (but we're having a home wedding instead with a Disney Honeymoon) but I was having the same problem with people wanting to stay offsite. My coordinator told me that if you can't guarentee 25 rooms, then you can let them know what you can guarentee, but if you go over that number than those people will not get the discount. Also, you won't get the free room night unless it's at least 25. But talk with your coordinator, because they'll definately be able to help you out. That's nothing to worry about!

we booked our rooms through a uk travel agent and they counted towards our room night min.

Can I ask what reservation numbers you used if you didn't book with Disney direct?

Hello Linz,

I have read a few of your posts here and they always catch my eye because I too am getting married next May. It seems from your descriptions that your wedding date is SO close to the date we picked. I was just curious what day you guys had in mind, we may very well be getting married at the same time!!! We picked May 29th as our first choice and May 28th as our second. I'm really excited for our wedding next year. We will find out in about a week and a half if we get our date!

As far as your room night requirements, there are PLENTY of great people here who travel to Disney all the time and they are always ready and willing to give you their ressie numbers to help fill room night requirements, so even if you dont have enough of your own guests filling the requirements, I'm sure you'll find all the help you need on here!!! Good luck!:goodvibes :goodvibes and happy planning!

Our first choice is Wednesday 27th
2nd choice is Thursday 28th

We can be wedding twins

I'm sooo excited for next week to finally get a deposit put down on something, it will make it all feel real :)

Thats good news about "PLENTY of great people here who travel to Disney all the time and they are always ready and willing to give you their ressie numbers to help fill room night requirements"

It makes me feel much better.

I'm going to start a planning journal soon. Do you have one?

Also noticed that you are doing / have done the Disney half marathon - well done.

I am doing the race for life (cancer research) here in 2 weeks (only 5k) but the most that I have ever ran in my life ! Feeling a bit nervous as I'm not the fittest person I know ;)

it was a nightmare trying to get the numbers from virgin!! i had to ask them for their reservation numbers, ask them for the disney ones and not thier ones. I was lucky enough that my planners assistant could locate the booking by names and dates

YAY I have a Wedding Twin! That is exciting! I hope you get your date! I'm so excited for next week, I just hope that since we're shooting for a Friday, that I dont get put into a lottery for the day! We're looking at the WP, and the Yacht Club for the reception.

I really wouldn't worry too much about filling the room night requirements. It seems as though Disney is willing to work with you and I have seen a bunch of people here will and ready to give their help for people in your very same situtation. 18 room nights is not a terrible amount! You'll do it!!! :goodvibes

I dont have a PJ yet, I'm kind of waiting, I think, to get a confirmation of our date with Disney. I have thought about starting a PJ several times, but haven't yet. I think once, like you said, when we have confirmation and a deposit down, it will just "seal the deal" and make it all feel "real", and then I'll be booking. I really look forward to reading your PJ! It will be great to know that someone is stressing about the same things at the same time as me!!! lol.

I'm running the Half marathon this upcoming January! SO excited!!! That is great that you are running in a 5K! I used to run in a lot of those a few years back, but got away from running for a couple of years. I decided to get back into it by signing up for a half marathon!!! lol. Good luck, I'm sure you will do fine!!! Its only 3.1 miles, you can do it!

Your words could just have popped out of my mouth, great minds and all that :lmao:
