Hello,

I'm having an Escape wedding and my understanding is that there isn't a minimum expenditure unless you have a Saturday/Sunday ceremony or add a catered event (like a DP). I booked Citrico's Chef's Table and no one said anything to me about it counting towards a minimum expenditure (That said, I also didn't ask.), but I would ask DFTW if it counts. That's one of those grey areas, as you can book the restaurant yourself through DDR, so it might not count in the same way as something you have to book through DFTW. It never hurts to ask, though, and I'd be curious as to what the answer is. Good luck!

I thought as it has a minimum spend it would count as a catered event but maybe not as you say its bookable by anyone!?

On a side note what did you think of Citrico's Chef's Table? did you need to provide them with any of the guests needs (I have a few fussy eaters joining me).

Citricos Chef table isn't a private catered event, so it would not count towards any minimum expenditure (it also wouldn't trigger the Escape $7,500 min expenditure that pops up when you add a catered event). The $7,500 min expenditure is for all Escape weddings on Saturdays and Sundays.

All of the Illuminations viewing areas have a minimum food and beverage requirement (sometimes it is a fixed amount, sometimes it is per person). You don't have to serve desserts necessarily, but there are limited non-dessert options from what I understand as it needs to travel from the kitchen. Adding a dessert party to your event would trigger the $7,500 minimum expenditure.

As the wonderful Wendy says, if you book 'Chef's Domain' through the restaurant, and not through DFTW, it will not trigger the dreaded minimum spend, as it is not considered a 'catered event'. You will only have to worry about the minimum spend if your 'Escape' wedding is at the week-end, or you add said catered event (eg. a DP or non-restaurant reception). So, therefore, if your wedding is on a week day and you just have your 'Chef's Domain' reception, there will be no minimum. If your wedding is on a week-end, and/or you add a catered event then you trigger a minimum spend of $7,500.00 (I think - unless this has recently changed).
It is my understanding that in park photo shoots count towards your 'Escape' minimum, but I may be wrong, and somebody far more knowledgeable than me will know for sure!!
Although we were too big a party for the 'Chef's Domain', we had our VR reception at 'Citrico's', and they were brilliant!!! Contact the restaurant with your concerns about your fussy eaters, and I am sure they will do all they can to accommodate you!!!

Yes photoshoots count but I *think* only if its on the same day as the wedding.

Claire sweetie - Yep that's what I thought too, but I have a feeling that someone on here said recently that they count toward the minimum whenever you have them. I really am not sure!!!:confused3

From what I've gathered the bridal photoshoots count if they or wedding day or not if you are an Escape bride but wedding day only if Wishes but with all the changes Disney make so often I may be wrong now.

I knew it was one but not the other but couldn't remember which way round it was.

I really would like a dessert party but there are only 10 of us so the ceremony package and the DP dont quite reach the minimum. Ideally I would like an Epcot Photoshoot but I may add on a DHS or AK one as well. (I dont mind doing it all on one day)

We will be having a meal but with such a small party I am struggling to find a venue to use so that I can have a meal that can be included as part of the min exp. :confused3

Have you looked at the Attic? The minimum expenditure at The Attic is $1,000 for a lunch, $2500 for a dinner. (Plus taxes and service charges, of course.) The venue only seats 36, and your party of 10 certainly wouldn't get lost in it! And it's an amazing venue. :D

I only had 6 guests and we used the Key West Room at the GF.

Hi Claire, just wondering how it was in the Key West room? Disney has offered us that option for our meal but i am still undecided! Was it quiet with just a few of you or did they have music? Was there a minimum spend on food and drink? Thank you!

No it wasn't quiet, and no we didn't have any music. It was however quiet at our DP, by then I think everyone had just run out of things to say to each other!

Min F&B spend was $500. It was a wonderful meal and our server was great.

Here is the link to my wedding day from my TR, KWR is in post 7.

Any other questions just let me know.

ooh thank you i will have a read!! Did you have any decoration for the room? Was it a set menu? I was keen to have our meal at Citricos but i think it will feel more like a wedding meal in the private room x

We had a few bits on the table but nothing much. I picked the menu, it was sooooooo good. We thought about using Citricos as well but at that time you could only make ADRs at 90 days and didn't want to wait that long to book. I've heard great things about it though from other brides, and i've eaten there and its lovely food.

I really love the look of the Attic but was hoping for a plated not a buffet meal as my fiance wants steak - although I can see issues already as one one in the party does not eat red meat.
im not sure how that works with a set menu??:confused3

I have just read your trip report chilly and I think the KWR might be a good option for us! its a good size so we will not be dwarfed by the room and the Min exp is under $1200 (which I think is roughly what our meal and drinks will be)!

Do you remember the max amount of people that can fit in this room?? Also, if you don't mind me asking, approx what did you end up paying to have a meal there? The pics in your trip report looked beautiful and the food looked delicious!

It might be 20 people. I will try and check and get back to you.

The meal was $106.50 per person, the slipper sorbet being $20 each! Ice cream to go with the cake was $6 each. So with out those it would have been $80.50 per person. I can't remember if that included drinks or not, i'll try and check.
