OK, let me get this straight. There is one of each character, and they stay at their set locations all day, correct? (Or are the ones in parades different, so they can still be met during parades?) Only chance to meet Mickey is at Town Square... right?
I haven't been in yeeeears and what I remember was characters just roaming, walking up and greeting people (even popping up behind you at times, much to the horror of my 7-year old self), and different Mickeys in different costumes around the park. I have a picture with astronaut Mickey.
But I gather now that the only way my 3-year old has a shot at seeing Mickey is by using one of our Fast Passes. Bummer. We're only at MK for one day, and that feels like a waste of time. Luckily, we're leaving on a DCL cruise the next day and will have plenty opportunities for character sightings, but it feels like bumping into unexpected characters was part of the magic as a child. Like it's really their home and you see them going about their daily lives. Oh well. I assume that putting them in set locations with lines is a good way of directing traffic.
