My son would love to be able to meet and greet him.

Is he available all the time at DL? Tips anyone?

Isnt there a Pirate show at DL somewhere?

I was understanding he was not there anymore but could be mistaken.
Best of luck.

Jack

I think he comes out for the Halloween party now, but that is it.

Alas, Jack roams no more.

There were too many problems w/him apparently and guests acting entirely inappropriately, so he has been shipped off. He was around for the Pirates 4 special previews, he was there w/his penelope cruz counterpart ... but he isn't around now.

In mid-May I passed him walking through NO Square and had a fun exchange.

Me: (to son) Look honey, a pirate.
Jack: Not A pirate love, THE pirate.
Me: Well, he is the best priate I've ever seen...
Handler: He's the best pirate ANYONE has ever seen!

This was while they were doing the POTC4 previews, so he may have been on his way there.

Capt. Jack was there in May 5th -10th of this year. We got a meet and greet with him and the female "lead" near the entrance to the petting farm. This is behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Grand son and grand daughter got to meet them twice. The line gathers fast but there are Photo Pass cast members taking pictures and of course a Cast member for crowd control and a character handler to make sure no crowding in line and that guests get own time with the Capt.

The Capt. had been missing from Disneyland for a long time before Movie #4 was due to open. I am not sure how long Jack will be back --- hope all summer for the kids-- but we were there during the movie premier at Disneyland so hope it was not for just that. Black Jack Delta is also correct, Jack had been missing for a long time before this.

Hope this helps.

Do tell...inappropriately huh? :confused3

Cute!

We met him on the DCL cruise. He wasn't funny at all. He just snarled alot for the camera.

He walked up next to us a couple years ago and was funny as heck. I didn't even see a handler, although I suppose there was one somewhere. Maybe some people think the drunk act is inappropriate?

This silly rumor is repeated over and over and over and over ...

Can anyone point to even a single reference in any official Disney media outlet about this having even a scintilla of truth?

I was hoping he would stay for bit longer. I got to meet him in 2006 (on a solo trip) and he was hilarious. He kept sneaking through the line stealing people's lanyards and autograph books, he would then throw them back declaring them to be worthless. I was wearing a shirt that had both Captain Jack and Will Turner on it and he kept turning me so Will would not show in the pictures.

It would have been nice if the rest of the family could have met him as well on our trip in November but I'm not one bit surprised he is considered too popular by Disney.

I have no idea, but my guess is that it had something to do with the ladies getting frisky with Jack.

Every month Los Angeles magazine does a one page spread on everyday people in Southern California and what they do for a living. I want to say about a year ago, the magazine interviewed a former Disney Cast Member who happened to play Captain Jack pirate:. To make a long story short, he did mentioned that there were some ladies that he saw on a regular basis (probably annual pass holders) that would get a little too amorous  and would constantly try to kiss him.

Must say that that would be EXTREMELY tempting.

That's too bad! At WDW my kids participated in the pirate show last year (right outside the entrance to POTC) where Jack and his 'assistant' taught a group of volunteers to become pirates. The kids had a blast and were thrilled to meet Jack as part of the show! How sad that they have to take a popular character away.

I recall reading the article when a link was posted, about a year or so ago. Yes, some female guests would get frisky, and it involved not only stealing a kiss, but inappropriate touching and pinching. But in addition, this particular Jack would apparently then make after-hours appointments for more extra-curricular activities. I imagine that when management read that, they probably didn't appreciate the publicity.

If you google "Confessions of a Disneyland Jack Sparrow" you can get more information. It appears as if the article that was in LA Magazine has since been removed from the internet, but you can find pieces of it in the google search.

Captain Jack was GREAT last time I was at DL (mid-March). Around park closing time (11? 11:30?) a friend and I were walking on the path that runs from Big Thunder to Fantasyland. We spotted Captain Jack walking around drunkenly and staring at a lightpost, and decided to just observe him for a bit. He must have realized this, because a few moments later he walked over to us. My friend was wearing one of those pairs of Mickey ears that light up, and Jack put his hands up to her head and said "Excuse me, but I should let you know that there is some kind of colored lightning shooting out of your head. You should probably either get some medicine, or just cut it off!" He then walked away, and continued stumbling around drunkenly. :rotfl:

One of my absolute favorite Disney memories!

We met Jack on Castaway Cay. My son went up to meet him.

Jack: What's your name?

Son: *****

Jack: Oh, yes, that's right. And where do you come from?

Son: California

Jack: You're absolutely right. :rotfl2:
