6.15am Saturday 14th March, no need for the alarm, I'm already up and about, Liam wasn't long behind me and sounding terrible, he gets croup and has done since he was around 6 months old, I was always told he'd outgrow it, he hasn't although he doesn't get it as bad now. Thank God for the Disney power shower, with that going full blast we sat in the bathroom and after about 10 mins steaming Liam's back to normal again - phew !
The family laugh at my first aid kit, but the 4 packs of cold and flu remedies I took came in handy and the soothers, victory v's and cough sweets all got used up during the trip.
We were slightly late for our 7.00 am slot, I was surprised at how busy the restaurant was though, at SL before 7.15 we've been the only ones in there, but Cheyenne was about three quarters full. With my new camera I've photographed just about everything.
I was disappointed - the fruit salad was tinned and the yoghurt was natural, help yourself stuff, so I didn't bother and we stuck to croissants, rolls etc and lots of coffee. Liam and I did laugh in here, there were 2 fruit juice machines next to each other, when I arrived a gentleman said to me "Don't use that one it's broken, it's just covered me in juice", so we were waiting in the queue for the working one and I just happened to be standing next to the broken one when this woman pushed her way through to get to the machine, naturally I stepped back and I don't know what had happened to this machine but the guy was right, juice squirted out everywhere, she was covered in it.
There is some justice in the world.
I realised that I hadn't been given a ticket for Monday's breakfast, so Liam and I made our way over to reception,
while the others finished breakfast, and then we met by the bus stop. So we probably were at the park by 8.00am and this morning it was straight to Buzz, a first for Rob, but after 3 times I could see he was getting fed up of it Liam on the other hand wanted to go around again, Rob reminded me how I "wanted" to ride SM2 and we could do that while the kids stayed around Buzz
Now I'm normally one of those people who find it difficult "to go" when they're away from home, in fact I normally don't even feel the need to, but those words were the best laxative I've ever had. So after a detour to the Discoveryland loos, next thing I know I'm standing in a very short queue, I can't remember any of the queue line to the loading bit, probably due to me being in a state of panic.
I was actually there !!!
That is one strange ride, lulls you into a false sense of security, when it slows, I even opened my eyes once or twice, but overall I enjoyed it, I think I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't as bad as I anticipated, although my legs were like jelly after and I was so disappointed that the photo booth wasn't open to prove I'd done it, but I will ride it again one day.
The boys were just coming out of Buzz, they'd managed another 2 rides and the park was starting to fill up, we had decided to spend Saturday in WDS, to avoid the crowds !
For the first time ever we managed to catch one of the Main Street vehicles back to the station and then we ventured over to WDS, stopping to point out Herbie, he had come up in conversation a while back and none of the family had ever noticed him,
We eventually managed to find the end of the queue for Crush,
Me and Liam trying to look as though we're really enjoying the queueline !
1 hour and 10 minutes later we were on the stairs
and 1 hour and 30 minutes later it was all over. For me Crush starts well and then, well I didn't like it, although the others did, but not enough to face another hour and a half wait. So we headed over to Stitch Live, it's funny, but I didn't feel it was something you could do more than once, is it always the same script ?
Couldn't believe how busy the park was when we came out and it was past lunchtime, so we headed over to Rendezvous des Stars, paid for in full with our standard vouchers, we had a very nice meal and Remi came out, which I was thrilled about.
Armageddon next,
you may remember we tried this once before years ago and Liam was petrified, well he wanted to try it again and loved it this time. ToT was a no-go with a 2 hour wait and no FP's left so we decided to do the Tram Tour,
then we queued for CineMagique only to find that we couldn't get in, how busy is that, but we were almost at the front of the queue for the next showing. We were all a bit fed up of standing in lines by this time, so decided to head back to the main park, to see if it had emptied out, it looked promising on the way in as the crowds seemed to be heading the opposite way, it was all illusional, Fantasyland rides were all still an hour, to an hour and half wait, we wandered around Adventureland
and then decided to head back to the hotel for an hour or two.
Managed to catch a glimpse of the prototype for the 2010 hire buggy design !
The park was open until 10.00 surely it would be quieter later on. I wanted to visit the Disney gallery store to see all the things I want but can't afford, and take pictures of them instead,
and especially this
then we walked back to the Cheyenne.
We all had short naps except Liam, I woke up first and we decided we were going back to the park, I woke Rob to tell him but Jamie woke too so we all went back. OMG the park is so pretty in the dark, I wouldn't say it was very much quieter but the queues were a little more manageable.
We did Phantom Manor, BTM and Buzz again twice, we queued for Orbitron for a while but nobody's heart was in it and Liam was now very tired, we caught the shuttle bus back and I took the boys back to the hotel and got them settled with hot chocolates and snacks and then I joined Rob for a well-earned Cosmopolitan cocktail
over at the Red Garter Saloon and then another and then just one more for the road, concerned at how little we'd actually achieved so far on the holiday and realising that we hadn't used a single Fast Pass during that day I went to sleep formulating a strategic plan of attack for Sunday.
